Unleashing innovation and creativity through labor excellence

ĐBP - In recent years, the emulation movement “Good labor, creative labor” has spread widely among officials, trade union members, and workers across Điện Biên province. Drawing from their day-to-day work, many innovative initiatives and practical solutions have been developed and applied, contributing to higher labor productivity and improved business performance. Today, the movement continues to affirm its important role in promoting innovation and creativity, making significant contributions to the effectiveness of government agencies, institutions, and enterprises.

One of the most notable highlights of the “Good labor, creative labor” movement is the emergence of initiatives from vocational training activities. In 2025, the project entitled “Conveyor belt control model for counting and sorting products by height” developed by members of the Electrical and Electronics Faculty of the grassroots trade union at Điện Biên College, was selected by the Điện Biên provincial Federation of Labor to participate in the National Creative Labor Festival due to its strong practical applicability.

The model integrates a programmable logic controller (PLC), optical sensors, a pneumatic system, and a robotic arm to automate the process of counting and sorting products according to height. The project has contributed to improving the quality of vocational training in industrial electricity, including PLC programming, SCADA systems, and sensor technologies, while also offering broad applications in industrial production to enhance labor productivity.

Vũ Thị Thùy Linh, a lecturer at the Electrical and Electronics Faculty, Điện Biên College, said: “Over the years, the support and encouragement from the college and its grassroots trade union have created favorable conditions for union members to foster creativity in their work. These initiatives have helped improve teaching quality and contribute to the development of a highly skilled workforce for Điện Biên province, meeting current requirements for digital transformation and green transition.”

The “Good labor, creative labor” movement has also gained significant momentum within the healthcare sector. Between 2023 and 2025, the sector implemented 116 research projects and four innovative initiatives related to medical examination and treatment in line with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthrough measures to strengthen healthcare protection, care, and public health improvement.

The “Conveyor belt control model for counting and sorting products by height” developed by the trade union of Điện Biên College is showcased at the National Creative Labor Festival in 2025.

At Điện Biên provincial General Hospital, improvements in the care process for premature and low-birth-weight infants at the Pediatrics Department serve as a clear example of creativity inspired by practical needs. The flexible combination of Kangaroo Mother Care, CPAP respiratory support, nutritional care, and skin-to-skin contact has helped many premature infants overcome critical stages and achieve stable development.

At the Geriatrics and Cardiology Department, Specialist level II Physician and Master Nguyễn Thị Thúy Hà, Head of the Department, has consistently engaged in scientific research and innovation. Her studies and initiatives have contributed significantly to improving diagnosis and treatment quality. Notable projects include “Assessment of blood glucose control status...” (2023) and “Survey of nocturnal blood pressure dipping patterns...” (2025).

These studies have supported the development of more effective treatment protocols, reduced dangerous cardiovascular complications, and lowered treatment costs for patients. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Hà was recently nominated to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as an outstanding role model in studying and following Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology, ethics, and lifestyle during the 2023-2025 period.

The “10,000 Initiatives in EVN” program has become a major driving force behind the creative labor movement at Điện Biên Power Company. A notable example is the “Fiber optic cable welding machine support bracket” developed by engineer Hoàng Trí Hữu and his colleagues. Responding to practical challenges encountered during field operations, the team successfully designed a device that supports work on utility poles by providing a stable working platform for technicians performing fiber-optic welding at height.

Engineer Hoàng Trí Hữu explained: “Previously, repairing faults in mountainous areas was extremely challenging. Workers had to carry heavy welding equipment while maintaining balance on utility poles to perform delicate welding operations. There was always a risk of workplace accidents or damage to equipment worth hundreds of millions of đồng. Our innovation has reduced operation time by up to 50 percent while significantly improving worker safety and protecting valuable equipment.”

Over the years, patriotic emulation movements launched by trade unions throughout Điện Biên province have attracted widespread participation from officials, union members, and workers. Among them, the “Good labor, creative labor” movement, with its focus on productivity, quality, and efficiency, has generated numerous successful initiatives and solutions that have improved work quality, reduced costs, and enhanced the operational performance of agencies, institutions, and enterprises.

During the 2023-2025 period alone, more than 1,000 initiatives and solutions developed by union members and workers were applied in practice and delivered tangible benefits.

Building on these achievements, trade unions at all levels in Điện Biên province have set ambitious goals for the 2025-2030 period. Each year, over 90 percent of grassroots trade unions are expected to organize emulation campaigns linked to professional duties, while at least 10 percent of union members and workers are expected to develop initiatives or solutions that are approved and implemented in practice.

By 2030, more than 90 percent of grassroots trade unions in enterprises are expected to establish and implement green production solutions focused on energy conservation and environmental protection. These goals are considered a vital source of motivation for fostering creativity within trade union organizations and contributing to the successful realization of the province’s socio-economic development objectives in the new era.
