Converting crops has brought economic efficiency, creating a foundation to form concentrated production zones and gradually transforming the production mindset of highland residents.
In February 2026, Quảng Lâm commune deployed the spring-summer 2026 TB29 red peanut cultivation model in Na Cô Sa 3 village across 3.3 hectares with the participation of 30 households. Participating in the model, households received 100% support for seeds, fertilizers, plant protection chemicals, production materials, and technical training covering land preparation, sowing, care, and pest control.
After nearly 5 months of deployment, by the end of June 2026, the model was harvested with positive results. Evaluation showed that compared to previous local peanut varieties, the TB29 variety exhibits strong growth capability, adapts well to climate and soil conditions in highland Quảng Lâm, and achieves high podding rates, firm kernels, low pest susceptibility, and a growth cycle suited to the local seasonal schedule.
Sàng A Hồ, Head of Na Cô Sa 3 village, shared that previously, villagers mainly planted old peanut varieties yielding low output and suffering from frequent pests, which led to low economic efficiency. Since receiving support from commune party committees and authorities to convert crop structures along with seed, fertilizer, and technical guidance support, villagers feel reassured in production, noting after the first harvest that the TB29 red peanut variety grew well and achieved higher yields than before, leaving residents enthusiastic to continue expanding acreage.
Along with material support, the locality pays special attention to transferring technical advances. Specialized cadres regularly visit fields to guide residents on crop care, pest monitoring, and handling arising situations promptly. Thanks to these efforts, most of the peanut acreage grew uniformly, with a high proportion of plants displaying good development.
Lò Văn Tâm, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Lâm commune People’s Committee, noted that the TB29 red peanut model represents one of the steps to diversify local crop structures, adding that practical deployment confirmed the crop variety suits the commune’s natural conditions, delivers positive economic results, and gains enthusiastic public support, serving as a basis for the commune to continue researching and replicating high-yield, high-quality crop varieties to gradually form concentrated production zones, raise agricultural production value, and increase public income.
Currently, Quảng Lâm commune is step-by-step building a long-term crop structure conversion strategy centered on high-value industrial crops such as coffee and macadamia. Implementing the 2026 coffee and macadamia development plan, the commune People’s Committee directed specialized agencies to boost dissemination and encourage residents across 13 out of 14 villages to join new planting efforts, resulting in 238 registered households with 144.03 hectares of eligible land after review and verification.
By July 21, 2026, deployment work for coffee and macadamia planting basically guaranteed progress according to provincial plans, creating favorable conditions for residents to organize planting and care for raw material zones as directed. To motivate residents to convert production, the commune People’s Committee assigned the General Services Center to take the lead in coordinating with linked units to distribute saplings and materials to residents.
To date, the entire commune distributed 482,195 coffee saplings, 48,220 kilograms of phosphate fertilizer, and 55,108 kilograms of NPK compound fertilizer to 230 households across 137.77 hectares. According to plan, the locality will continue distributing 19,012 macadamia saplings alongside 3,720 kilograms of NPK fertilizer to execute intercropping with coffee.
Field inspections in Quảng Lâm village, Trạm Púng village, and several areas showed that most newly planted coffee acreage exhibits stable growth, good plant development, and proper adaptation to natural conditions. Residents proactively provided shade, applied basal fertilizer, and cared for and protected plants post-planting, contributing to raising survival rates.
Lò Văn Tiến, Head of Quảng Lâm village, shared that converting crop structures, especially introducing coffee and macadamia into production per local policy, created immense public confidence. Villagers feel reassured receiving State support for saplings, fertilizers, and technical guidance, expressing hope that despite being new crops, they will generate stable income streams, contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and foster sustainable economic development.
Instead of fragmented, self-sufficient production, many households across the commune have begun familiarizing themselves with production methods following technical processes, linking with material supply units, and aiming toward forming concentrated production zones. Currently, Quảng Lâm commune is deploying 7 production development support projects linked with new coffee and macadamia planting.
Numerous projects completed registration, village meetings, target group reviews, acreage measurements, land condition verifications, and dossier completions according to regulations. Parallel to these efforts, the locality directs the establishment of 7 cooperative groups linked to value-chain production, facilitating public cooperation, market access, and product value enhancement.
From initial model efficiency to acreage expansion for coffee and macadamia, specific directions in crop structure conversion in Quảng Lâm commune have been clearly demonstrated. In particular, the shift in public production mindsets, seen in boldly applying technical advances, joining linkage models, and aiming toward commodity production, serves as the driving force for sustainable socio-economic development.
