Current statistics indicate that the entire province records 1,670 enterprises creating jobs for over 22,000 workers, alongside 375 cooperatives with approximately 7,700 workers. The expansion of production scale and the increasingly diverse range of industries - stretching from construction, materials manufacturing, electricity, and mining to services and trade - set forth higher demands for occupational safety and health (OSH) work.
Over the past years, ensuring OSH across the province has received synchronous implementation from all levels, sectors, and enterprises through practical solutions. Information dissemination to spread knowledge on OSH and fire prevention has been boosted through various formats, while training activities have been robustly enhanced. In 2025, the entire province recorded 8,238 individuals who received OSH training. Through these training classes, the awareness of employers regarding safety training has been distinctly elevated.
Many small and medium-sized enterprises have proactively coordinated to organize safety training and knowledge classes for their employees in strict compliance with legal regulations. These information, dissemination, and training activities have generated a clear transformation in the awareness and compliance of employers, workers, and local residents regarding OSH and fire prevention laws.
Under the theme of “Innovating management and elevating the efficiency of OSH work in the digital era,” this year’s Month of Action for OSH has been deployed by agencies, units, and enterprises province-wide through multiple practical activities targeting workers. Recently, the Điện Biên Water Supply Joint Stock Company organized a periodic health examination program for 233 cadres, union members, and workers. This activity does not only help employees monitor and check their health regularly but also demonstrates the care of the enterprise for its laborers’ lives, shaping a stable and safe working environment so that workers can feel secure in binding themselves to the company long-term.
The Month of Action for OSH this year in Điện Biên is deployed in tandem with demands for innovating management methods in the digital transformation era. The message that occupational safety must switch from passive handling to proactive prevention, and from experience-based management to technology- and data-driven management is being materialized by many enterprises through practical solutions. This orientation is also linked with the execution of Resolution No.57-NQ/TW on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, heading toward constructing a safe, smart, and modern working environment.
Operating in a specialized sector, the Điện Biên Power Company identifies the application of technology and artificial intelligence as a vital solution to limit risks during power grid operations and upgrade governance efficiency. Currently, the company is synchronously deploying a multi-tiered safety monitoring system that combines direct inspections with remote surveillance. Technology is integrated into safety governance by controlling live images at work sessions, where smart field recording data is transmitted directly through the ECP monitoring system to the safety duty department and unit leaders for timely monitoring, direction, and handling of arising situations.
The application of technology does not only contribute to elevating production and business efficiency but also creates an additional shield protecting workers, particularly in high-risk tasks like electrical repairs, grid operations, and handling incidents under complex weather conditions.
Duyên Hùng Company Limited, located in team 1 of Mường Thanh ward, operates primarily in high-tech tunnel brick manufacturing and mineral extraction. The enterprise maintains a regular and seasonal workforce of 60 laborers divided into four teams, which encompass the machinery-robotics team, the firing team, the kiln unloading team, and the driving-machinery repair team. The brick production capacity reaches from 130,000 to 140,000 units per day, peaking at over 160,000 units per day. Laborers are fully equipped with protective equipment such as air-conditioned jackets, masks, respirators, boots, and gloves, and they undergo periodic occupational safety checks.
Lưu Công Ruyên, Director of Duyên Hùng Company Limited, stated that occupational safety is always determined as a mandatory requirement in the enterprise’s entire production workflow. To innovate technology and optimize production workflows to reduce manual labor and limit accident risks, the company installed two automated robotic arms to grab bricks, replacing many previously arduous labor stages. Currently, the company is concentrating its maximum capacity to meet the material demands of construction projects before the rainy season arrives. Lưu Công Ruyên emphasized that even though the workload has risen sharply, the company still thoroughly instills the spirit of safety first, absolutely avoiding any subjectivity or negligence.
OSH work is increasingly prioritized by numerous companies and enterprises, moving from building a professional, safe working environment to caring for workers’ health, improving accommodation, living conditions, and welfare benefits. However, against the backdrop of expanding production and business activities, latent risks of labor accidents still linger, demanding that all levels, sectors, and enterprises continue to elevate responsibility in management, inspection, surveillance, and training. Each worker needs to proactively upgrade skills, strictly obey production workflows, correctly utilize protective gear, and say no to a subjective mindset during labor.
