Currently, the province is home to 1,491 enterprises with a total registered capital of approximately VND 37,000 billion, more than 18,000 business households with capital exceeding VND 2,000 billion, and 360 cooperatives with over VND 1,000 billion. Collectively, these entities contribute about 35% of the GRDP and employ 65% of the provincial workforce, acting as the core strength in the digital transformation process. Consequently, providing digital support to this group is a central task in the local strategy for digital economic development.
The province has begun to establish a digital ecosystem by maintaining sectoral databases and a digital map for industry and trade. Updating information on these platforms not only improves administrative efficiency for management agencies but also enables businesses to access market information and expand their operations. Many businesses and cooperatives have proactively adopted technologies such as traceability, barcodes, and product standardization.
In the agricultural sector, the province has organized training sessions to enhance management capacity and technology access. As a result, 28,998 households in agricultural production have been introduced to e-commerce platforms, with 3,871 households receiving digital skills training. Furthermore, 1,194 households now operate online storefronts, and 493 products have been featured on digital marketplaces, reflecting a clear transition from traditional methods to digital-based commerce.
On April 13, 2026, Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation collaborated with the Điện Biên Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center and the TikTok Shop platform to organize the “Journey of Điện Biên Agricultural Products” program. Featuring 50 local sellers, the initiative focused on improving digital business operational skills, including storefront setup, content development, livestreaming, and order management. Organized simultaneously across 11 locations with more than 20 content creators, this initiative allowed business households to receive hands-on guidance and directly interact with consumers.
After two days of implementation, the program recorded over 7,000 orders, facilitating the consumption of approximately 20 tons of sweet potatoes along with various signature products like dried purple sticky corn, vermicelli, and chẩm chéo seasoning. Media content attracted over 4.6 million views, promoting local agriculture in a vivid and highly viral manner. Beyond short-term sales, the program provided direct support to 20 households and cooperatives in channel construction and content development on digital platforms.
Between 2022 and 2025, 83 enterprises and cooperatives received support through science, technology, and digital transformation tasks, creating a foundation for digital agriculture and a circular economy. To fuel this progress, the province has allocated an average of VND 3 to 4 billion annually to support technological innovation and digital applications. Trade promotion activities have also been strongly digitized, combining physical and online formats through 34 domestic and international fairs and exhibitions.
Digital transformation is a comprehensive process involving a total shift in awareness, production methods, and management. To further this progress, Điện Biên aims to refine policy mechanisms, develop digital infrastructure, and improve the quality of human resources. Supporting businesses and individuals in mastering digital solutions and e-commerce is viewed as a key strategy for the upcoming period, aiming to build a dynamic and sustainable digital economy.
