In the context where Điện Biên is gradually improving its investment environment, expanding traffic connections, and promoting the development of tourism and commodity agriculture, the conference is considered an important bridge for local businesses to seek cooperation opportunities, expand markets, and attract development resources.
Located more than 30 kilometers from the center of Điện Biên Phủ ward, Phương Đức Homestay in Che Căn village, Mường Phăng commune, is becoming an attractive destination for tourists who love community-based tourism. Nestled amidst the peaceful space of a Thai village, the homestay features a rustic, intimate architecture deeply imbued with local cultural identity and has a capacity of about 30 guests. During holidays, the homestay receives an average of 12 to 14 guests per day, five to six times higher than on normal days. Here, tourists can experience various activities such as enjoying traditional cuisine, watching Thai ethnic cultural performances, cycling to explore the village, and paddling dugout canoes on Pá Khoang lake.
In recent days, information about the groundbreaking ceremony for the Điện Biên Phủ cultural and historical tourism cable car complex project in Mường Phăng on May 10 has made residents and tourism business households even more hopeful. Cà Thị Phương, owner of Phương Đức Homestay, shared that the implementation of the project will contribute to attracting more tourists to Mường Phăng, creating more opportunities for households engaged in community-based tourism. According to Cà Thị Phương, this is also a favorable condition for the locality to develop more high-quality tourism products, connect tour routes, and promote the tourism image of Mường Phăng in particular and Điện Biên in general more widely.
Not only in the tourism sector, many cooperatives and agricultural production households in the province also expect the conference to open up opportunities for production linkages and more stable product consumption. The Pha Đin Coffee Cooperative in Chế Á village is a large-scale cooperative in Quài Tở commune that grows and links the purchasing of high-quality coffee varieties. Currently, the cooperative has over 60 hectares of coffee. To meet processing needs and enhance product value, the cooperative has invested in upgrading the capacity of its preliminary processing line by installing additional hulling and drying machines.
However, according to Sùng A Dia, Director of the Cooperative, most coffee products remain in raw or preliminary processing stages, lacking deep processing, while production infrastructure remains limited and the output is unstable. Sùng A Dia shared their hope that after the investment promotion conference, more businesses will come to form product consumption linkages and invest in deep processing to increase the value of agricultural products. He noted that for local coffee products to go further and establish a firmer foothold in the market, farmers need to feel secure in their production.
Also working in the agricultural sector, Trần Văn Sơn, Director of the Vì Một Điện Biên Phát Triển Cooperative, expects that this Investment Promotion Conference will see more businesses and investors paying attention to agriculture, community-based tourism, and areas that create sustainable livelihoods for the people of Điện Biên. He emphasized that beyond capital investment, what is more important is collaborating with the locality to build a stable production and consumption linkage chain, enhance the value of indigenous products, expand markets, and create long-term employment for the people. Trần Văn Sơn emphasized his desire for support policies to become more practical, helping cooperatives, small businesses, and residents easily access resources, science and technology, and digital transformation. He stated that when people have stable incomes right in their homeland, it forms the true foundation for the sustainable development of Điện Biên in the future.
Sharing these expectations, many local residents hope that new investment projects will create more jobs, increase incomes, and improve the quality of life. Lò Thị Hoa, a resident of Thanh Nưa commune, shared that they hope more businesses will come to invest so their children can find jobs right in their hometown without having to work far away. She added that alongside economic development, investment projects need to be linked to environmental protection, landscape preservation, and the conservation of local cultural identity.
The 2026 Điện Biên Province Investment Promotion Conference is expected to expand cooperation in areas where the province has potential and advantages, such as tourism, services, resorts, agriculture, processing, urban infrastructure, real estate, energy, industry, and logistics. What is anticipated most after the conference is not just memorandums of understanding but the early realization of commitments through specific projects. This will create additional resources for local socio-economic development, gradually improve the people’s lives, and affirm Điện Biên’s position on the investment attraction map of the Northwest region.
