End of Pu Lau pineapple season

ĐBP - With only about half a month remaining, the pineapple harvest season will draw to a close.

Torrential rains since early July have not slowed down the pace of labor, as every day represents precious time for the people of Mường Nhà to transport pineapples off the hillsides and deliver them to traders in time.

From early morning, groups of people arrive at the pineapple fields. One person cuts the fruit, another carries baskets, and others load pineapples onto motorbikes or modified vehicles to transport them to gathering points, with everyone working in smooth and urgent coordination.

As the season comes to an end, pineapple prices are not overly high. To accelerate harvesting and minimize weather impacts, residents primarily sell green pineapples at around VND 7,000 per kilogram regardless of size.

Meanwhile, traders dealing in commercial ripe pineapples sort the fruit into large, medium, and small sizes after collection, with purchasing prices fluctuating between VND 4,000 and VND 8,000 per kilogram depending on the grade.

Currently, Pu Lau village holds nearly 200 hectares of pineapples cultivated by 115 households. This serves as the main income-generating crop, developing household economies and bringing prosperity to local residents.

On average, after deducting expenses, each hectare of pineapples yields a profit between VND 80 and 120 million.

With each passing day, more vehicles loaded with pineapples leave the village, carrying the joy of a good harvest after months of care and creating a simple yet vibrant labor picture in the borderland.
