The Mường Lay ward Youth Union has implemented many concrete activities to support youth entrepreneurship. From improving production knowledge and skills to facilitating access to capital and market connections, the ward has gradually helped establish youth-led economic models suited to local conditions. The unit regularly collaborates with the provincial Youth Union and the Youth Union of Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center No. 3 to organize training courses on cultivating medicinal plants such as amomum and cinnamon, as well as raising breeding chickens and goats. Young members also participate in courses to improve their skills in selling products on e-commerce platforms, gradually adapting to digital transformation trends in economic development.
The Mường Lay ward Youth Union directs its affiliated branches to actively promote and recognize effective economic models, cooperatives, and outstanding business households. It also organizes meetings and exchanges between cooperatives and businesses to strengthen linkages, build value chains, and enhance the competitiveness of local products. In addition, the Youth Union collaborates with Điện Biên College and the provincial Employment Service Center to provide career counseling, helping students and young people better understand labor market demands and choose suitable career paths. The ward Youth Union also works with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to effectively maintain 16 savings and loan groups. By the end of the first quarter of 2026, total outstanding loans exceeded VND 46.4 billion, enabling many young people in the ward to invest in production and business development.
Vũ Hoàng Phương, Secretary of the Mường Lay ward Youth Union, said that there are currently three cooperatives run by young members in the area: Mường Lay Cooperative, White Ban Flower Cooperative, and Xuân Kiều Cooperative. These models have initially proven effective, creating jobs and increasing incomes for local youth and residents. In the coming time, the ward Youth Union will continue to strengthen coordination in organizing training courses, facilitating access to capital, and enhancing product consumption linkages to support youth in confidently starting businesses in their hometowns.
In recent years, support for youth entrepreneurship and career development has been widely implemented by the provincial Youth Union through various practical programs and movements. Notable initiatives include the “Youth Startup” and “Creative Youth” movements; activities supporting career development, job placement, technology transfer training; assistance in accessing preferential loans; and the development and replication of effective youth economic models.
Since the beginning of the year, the Standing Committee of the provincial Youth Union has coordinated with the Vietnam Youth Support Center to provide 47 breeding cows to support livelihoods for young people and disadvantaged households in Núa Ngam, Thanh Nưa, and Mường Mùn communes. At the same time, 20 career counseling and job placement activities have been organized, attracting over 9,000 young participants. Youth organizations at all levels have also stepped up efforts to guide young people in bringing agricultural products to e-commerce platforms and promoting Điện Biên’s products on TikTok. Many youth-led economic models continue to be maintained and expanded, such as the “coffee nursery” model in Pú Nhung commune and breeding pig farms in Thanh Nưa commune.
Lò Xuân Hạnh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, said that the organization will continue implementing practical support activities aligned with real needs, focusing on building networks of successful young entrepreneurs, promoting digital transformation, supporting brand development, and connecting product consumption channels to create favorable conditions for sustainable economic growth among youth.
With the active involvement of Youth Union organizations at all levels and the determination of young people, the startup and career development movement in the province is growing steadily and gaining depth. Many effective economic models have been established and replicated, contributing to job creation, income improvement, and the socio-economic development of the locality.
