Bustling refrigeration market at beginning of summer

ĐBP - Prolonged heatwaves along with sharply rising temperatures in the early days of summer have driven up public demand for cooling devices. The refrigeration market has become more bustling with various types of air conditioners, electric fans, and many other refrigeration products being sought after and chosen by citizens.

Prolonged hot weather not only causes a sultry, uncomfortable feeling but also directly affects the health and daily life of residents, especially the elderly and young children. In this context, cooling devices such as air conditioners, electric fans, air cooler fans, and refrigerators have become essential items prioritized for investment by many families.

An employee from the Phương Nam Điện Biên Trading Co., Ltd. installs an air conditioner for a customer.

At Phương Nam Điện Biên Trading Co., Ltd., the volume of customers arriving to explore and shop for refrigeration products has increased visibly in recent days. Đào Ngọc Trường’s family from Thanh An commune took advantage of their free time to browse through different air conditioner lines to serve their family’s daily needs.

Taking a walk around the supermarket, Trường shared: “My family wants to buy an additional air conditioner to install in a private room for our young children. After checking the prices and products of various brands, I am still weighing my options and do not know which one to choose because there are so many diverse brands and models with modern features. However, our family prioritizes products from well-known brands like Panasonic, Daikin, Toshiba, or LG due to their power-saving advantages for long-term use.”

Although it is only the beginning of summer, residents’ demand for air conditioner installation is rising sharply.

A survey across many electronics stores in Điện Biên Phủ and Mường Thanh wards shows that business units proactively prepared their stock quite early to meet the rising demand of residents during the summer. Prominent are the power-saving air conditioner lines from major brands like Panasonic, Daikin, LG, Samsung, and Toshiba, alongside many products in the popular segment such as Casper, Funiki, and Midea. The products are on display with diverse capacities ranging from 9,000 BTU to 18,000 BTU, suitable for various room sizes.

Lương Thị Nhung from Phương Nam Điện Biên Trading Co., Ltd. stated: “We fully prepared our stock by the end of March 2026 to anticipate summer consumer demand. The company offers a full range of electronic and refrigeration items to serve customers during the hot season, such as air conditioners, electric fans, air cooler fans, refrigerators, and many other products. For residential air conditioner lines, Casper, Funiki, and Midea products are currently selling quite well. In the high-end segment, customers still prioritize Panasonic and Daikin.”

Various types of fans and air conditioners are prioritized by residents in the summer of 2026.

According to Nhung, the selling price of air conditioners currently fluctuates from VND 6.5 million to VND 12 million depending on capacity and brand. For rooms with an area of 9 to 15 m2, the 9,000 BTU air conditioner line is chosen by many customers at a price of around VND 6.5 million to VND 8 million. The 12,000 BTU lines cost from VND 8 million to VND 12 million. Meanwhile, air cooler fans range from VND 1.8 million for the popular segment and from VND 5 million to VND 6 million for high-end lines.

Notably, consumer trends among residents have seen many changes recently. While air cooler fans and misting fans used to be popular choices in the past, air conditioners are currently gaining the upper hand.

Nhung assessed: “Recently, customers are returning to using air conditioners much more. Previously, whenever the hot season arrived, people bought a lot of misting fans and air cooler fans, but now the demand for installing air conditioners is surging. Air cooler fans only provide direct cooling, whereas air conditioners can cool down the entire room space after only about 15 to 20 minutes of use.”

Customers choose refrigerators for the summer of 2026.

This year, the hot weather arrived later than in previous years, but as the temperatures began to soar, the electronics and refrigeration market across the province quickly became bustling. Public shopping demand for cooling devices has increased significantly, particularly for air conditioners, electric fans, and food preservation products like refrigerators and freezers. Many electronics business units have recorded a distinct increase in customers coming to browse, order, and install equipment in recent days.

According to Nguyễn Văn Tiến, manager of Thanh Oánh Electronics Supermarket (Điện Biên Phủ ward), although the hot season has just entered its initial stage, purchasing power has shown positive signals. In fact, when intense heatwaves occur, the volume of customers needing air conditioner installation spikes. “Over the past few days, we have had to hire additional external technicians for support. On some days, the number of installed air conditioners reached up to 10 sets, so relying solely on our unit’s technical team would make it very difficult to meet the schedule,” Tiến shared.

Electronics stores and supermarkets prepare many types of air cooler fans to serve customer needs.

Refrigerators, freezers, and cooling showcases are also items drawing consumer interest during the summer. Refrigerator lines with capacities of 250 to 300 liters, matching the needs of the majority of households, sell quite well at prices from VND 6 million to VND 8 million. Meanwhile, large-capacity refrigerator models ranging from 450 to 500 liters with prices fluctuating between VND 10 million and VND 15 million are suitable for large families or those with high food preservation needs. Brands highly selected by customers currently include Panasonic, LG, Sharp, Casper, and Funiki.

Increasing purchasing power along with the diversity of models and price segments are painting a flourishing picture for the refrigeration market in the summer of 2026. It is forecasted that in the coming weeks, as temperatures continue to remain high and enter the peak hot period of summer, the refrigeration market in Điện Biên province will become even more vibrant.
