The ceremony was attended by Trần Quốc Cường, Party Central Committee Member and Provincial Party Secretary; Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Provincial Party Secretary; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mùa A Vảng, Alternate Central Party Committee Member and Chairman of the VFF of the province, alongside members of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, and leaders from various departments, agencies, political-social organisations, as well as representatives from local businesses and banks.
During the launch, Mùa A Vảng, Chairman of the provincial Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF), stressed the devastating impact Typhoon Yagi has had on northern cities and provinces.
Preliminary statistics indicate that, as of Wednesday (September 11), over 320 people have either died or gone missing, tens of thousands of residents remain isolated, and thousands of homes have been flooded, collapsed, or severely damaged. The estimated financial loss runs into thousands of billions of đồng.
Mùa A Vảng highlighted the urgent need for attention and support from all sectors of society for the affected areas. In response to the Central Committee of the VFF’s appeal for assistance to typhoon and flood victims, the Standing Committee of the provincial VFF is calling on agencies, organisations, businesses, officials, employees, and all residents across the province to contribute towards helping those affected recover from the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi.
The campaign aims to encourage officials, employees, members of the armed forces, and those receiving salaries from the State budget to each donate one day’s salary. Workers are also encouraged to contribute one day’s income, while union members, youth, and households with above-average living standards are asked to donate a minimum of VNĐ50,000.
Donations can be made to the province’s relief fund account, with contributions accepted from September 12 to October 15, 2024. The Standing Committee of the VFF and the relief fund committee have pledged to use the funds effectively, with full transparency, ensuring that all donations are directed towards their intended purpose.
In response to the VFF’s call, 50 organisations and 53 individuals contributed over VNĐ2.8 billion (US$114,080) during the ceremony to support the typhoon and flood victims.
