Chua Po Cave recognised as provincial tourism site

ĐBP – The Tủa Chùa District People’s Committee on Saturday night held a ceremony to receive the provincial-level certificate for Chua Po Cave in Lao Xả Phình Commune, Tủa Chùa District, and to announce the recognition of the Tủa Chùa Market as a tourism site.

The event was attended by Mùa A Sơn, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Giàng Thị Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Vừ A Bằng, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and other provincial leaders and officials.

Chua Po Cave, formed through geological processes and karst dissolution millions of years ago, showcases a diverse range of natural features. The cave, situated at an altitude of 1,550 metres above sea level, has two entrances facing northeast. It is V-shaped and extends 240 metres deep, divided into two chambers.

Due to its aesthetic, artistic, and tourism value, Chua Po Cave was officially recogniaed as a provincial scenic site by the Provincial People’s Committee on August 13, 2024, under Decision No 1408/QD-UBND.

Following its designation, the cave has been entrusted to the Lao Xả Phình Commune People's Committee for management.

Tủa Chùa Market was established in 1988. It operates from Saturday evening until Sunday morning each week, offering a variety of local specialties, including unique culinary delights, cultural artifacts, and valuable medicinal herbs.

The market has become a popular attraction for both locals and tourists, offering cultural experiences and the opportunity to buy and sell goods.

On August 13, 2024, under Decision No 1410/QD-UBND, the Provincial People’s Committee recognised Tủa Chùa Market as a tourism site and assigned its management to the Tủa Chùa Town People’s Committee, which is responsible for its development in accordance with the Tourism Law.

Vừ A Bằng, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, commended the achievements of the local government, authorities, and the people of Tủa Chùa District in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

To protect and enhance the value of cultural heritage and develop tourist attractions, Bằng urged the Tủa Chùa District’s authority to collaborate with provincial departments to intensify the dissemination of legal documents related to cultural heritage and tourism laws.

He called for public participation in protecting the cave from environmental and social impacts, preventing encroachment and damage to the Chua Po Cave scenic site, and planning restoration and conservation projects for recognised heritage sites under local management.
