Rice Crops on the Rocky Plateau of Tủa Chùa

ĐBP - Located in the northern mountainous province of Điện Biên, Tủa Chùa District is renowned for its rugged karst landscape, with three-quarters of the area covered by jagged limestone mountains. Despite the harsh terrain, the local ethnic communities have skillfully transformed the rocky plateau into lush fields and terraced landscapes, breathing life into the rugged landscape.

From September to early October, Tủa Chùa becomes a sought-after destination for adventurers and photographers alike as the rice harvest season approaches. The terraced fields turn golden, cascading over the hills in waves, creating a stunning contrast with the cool autumn air that blankets the surrounding villages.

Popular spots for capturing the beauty of the rice fields include the rippling terraces of Đờ Dê Hu Village, the Chiếu Tính fields, the butterfly-shaped terraces at Tả Sìn Thàng, and the golden "plate" at Háng Khúa. Each location offers a unique charm, with ripening rice stalks swaying gently in the breeze, creating a picturesque and serene atmosphere.

Currently, the terraced fields are in the process of turning from green to yellow. At the Chiếu Tính fields, a meandering stream separates the green and yellow patches, while at Tả Sìn Thàng, Háng Là, and the silver "plate" at Háng Khúa, the fields are gradually ripening into a vibrant gold. Some areas have already ripened, and locals are making the most of the sunny days to begin harvesting.

Here are a few glimpses of the golden rice season in Tủa Chùa District:

Around September and early October, the rocky plateau of Tủa Chùa begins its rice harvest season.

The rice plants, heavy and lush, gradually bow as they ripen and turn golden.

The landscape is stunning, with endless waves of golden rice stretching to the horizon.

This season not only showcases the area’s natural beauty but also marks a time of abundance, as the community reaps the rewards of months of hard work.

For nature lovers, this is the perfect time to explore the golden terraces beneath the karst mountains. The photo showcasing the golden plate of Háng Khúa in Sín Chải Commune.

The Chiếu Tính fields are divided by a stream, creating a striking contrast between the green and golden patches of rice.

Due to the mountainous terrain, the rice is harvested directly in the fields.

The harvesting methods vary, from small machines used to strip the rice grain...

... to manual harvesting and threshing.

The rice harvest usually lasts for about two weeks.

For explorers, this is the most beautiful time to discover the untouched beauty of Tủa Chùa.
