Điện Biên and Viettle sign agreement to propel digital advancement

ĐBP – Điện Biên Province and Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) on Monday signed an agreement to speed up digital transformation in the upcoming period.

The agreement was aimed to help Điện Biên join other provinces nationwide in the effort to boost digital transformation, focusing on three core pillars: e-Government, e-economy and e-society.

Viettel will assign its experts or invite experienced professionals to survey, guide, and support Điện Biên Province in building and executing comprehensive programmes and plans, as well as projects on digital transformation, ensuring cybersecurity, and deploying smart city services.

Regarding infrastructure and digital platform development, the cooperation will focus on developing digital infrastructure and supporting the construction and development of digital platforms.

The partnership will involve developing and completing information systems, shared databases, intelligent applications, and services across various sectors and levels, enhancing government operations' efficiency, to establish a digital government.  

There will also be support for integrating and deploying platforms and applications for central ministries and departments with Điện Biên's shared applications to ensure data connectivity and sharing.

Concerning the development of the digital economy and digital society, efforts will be made to develop, guide, and support the transfer of digital platforms and applications to promote the rapid and sustainable growth of local businesses and household enterprises.

This includes providing and supporting smartphones and preferential packages for poor and near-poor households in the province, along with offering discount policies for customers upgrading from 2G and 3G phones to 4G and 5G smartphones.

In certain priority sectors, Viettel will support the implementation of tasks and areas aligned with Điện Biên Province's e-Government architecture versions 2.0 and 3.0.

At the signing ceremony, Major General Tào Đức Thắng, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, affirmed that Viettel aims to contribute to Điện Biên Province's development by focusing on developing broadcasting stations, delivery services, and digital platforms to serve the government and provide digital products for society.

Despite the limited number of businesses in Điện Biên, Viettel has actively promoted cooperation to unlock potential opportunities, he said.

Trần Quốc Cường, member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee, expressed gratitude for Viettel's attention and support for Điện Biên's development, especially on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.

Viettel has implemented many social welfare programmes to help the poor in Điện Biên Province improve their economic conditions.

The company has significantly supported Điện Biên in implementing Project 06 on developing and applying the population database and electronic identification and authentication, achieving many outstanding results that have positively contributed to socio-economic development.

The provincial Party Secretary Cường said he hopes Điện Biên Province and Viettel will continue to collaborate in all fields, especially in digital transformation in the future.
