Điện Biên leader welcomes Thai ambassador

ĐBP - On March 15, Mr. Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee, hosted a reception for Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam.

Present at the meeting were also Mr. Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, and other leaders of the province.

At the meeting, Secretary Trần Quốc Cường warmly welcomed Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya and expressed his delight at the growing relationship between Điện Biên province and Thailand. He highlighted the strong cooperative ties between Vietnam and Thailand, emphasizing Điện Biên’s socio-economic development and the province’s advantages in agriculture, forestry, tourism, and renewable energy.

The Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee expressed his hope that through the ambassador’s support, more Thai businesses and investors would learn about investment opportunities in Điện Biên. He proposed strengthening cooperation in areas such as Thai language education for Điện Biên students and facilitating Điện Biên students to study at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

Regarding tourism, Secretary Trần Quốc Cường suggested both sides enhance collaboration through various forms, including exchange visits, staff training in tourism, establishing direct air routes, and promoting cross-border cycling tours connecting Điện Biên, Laos, and Thailand. He also mentioned the potential idea of creating a Thai cultural street in Điện Biên and hoped the Ambassador could introduce a Thai locality for establishing a twinning relationship with Điện Biên.

For her part, Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and affirmed Điện Biên’s great potential in tourism and agriculture. She committed to supporting Điện Biên by inviting Thai experts to provide training in tourism development, promoting Thai language education, and developing tourism routes connecting Điện Biên, Laos, and Thailand. The Thai diplomat also expressed interest in facilitating Thai businesses to invest in Điện Biên, particularly in agricultural product distribution and tourism development.
