Sectors ranging from industrial park and cluster infrastructure and logistics to agricultural processing and tourism services promise extensive headroom for cooperation. Consequently, investors have been stepping up field surveys, exploring opportunities, and researching the feasibility of project implementation across the province.
During the survey program, businesses and investors conducted field inspections at the Thanh Minh and Thanh An industrial parks, the Thanh Yên industrial cluster, the Tây Trang Border Gate Economic Zone, and the Tây Trang Border Gate Cargo Warehouse. These locations carry strategic significance in the development orientation of industry, commerce, and logistics, contributing to enhancing trade connectivity between Điện Biên and regional and domestic localities.
Participating in the survey of industrial parks and clusters, Chế Văn Trung, Deputy Director of District 2 Public Utility Services Co., Ltd., in charge of Cát Lái Industrial Park, Hồ Chí Minh City, shared his perspectives on investment prospects in the province. Like many investors, he noted that despite lingering hurdles, Điện Biên possesses substantial potential to attract enterprises, particularly in agricultural production and processing.
“Through practical surveys, we recognize that Điện Biên holds considerable potential and advantages regarding geographical location, raw material zones, and renewable energy. In particular, provincial leadership is very decisive in directing, administering, and executing investment promotion policies. If logistics difficulties are untangled step by step and available advantages are exploited efficiently, Điện Biên will secure many more opportunities to attract enterprises to explore, partner, and invest,” Trung shared.
One of the sites drawing business interest is Thanh An Industrial Park, spanning over 104ha in Thanh An commune. Operating in industrial real estate, Hòa Phú Joint Stock Company has invested in Hòa Phú Industrial Park Phases 1 and 2 with an aggregate scale of 250ha in Vĩnh Long province, while continuing to deploy Phase 3 spanning 157ha. On its journey seeking high-potential locations to expand investment activities, the company is researching investment opportunities at Thanh An Industrial Park.
According to Hà Duy Tín, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Hòa Phú Joint Stock Company, Điện Biên boasts advantages in agricultural land area and the development potential of Arabica coffee, macadamia, and medicinal herb raw material zones. These provide the foundation to establish preservation, preliminary processing, and deep-processing facilities, elevating agricultural produce value and expanding consumer markets. Along with bordering Laos, connectivity with Yunnan province (China) and northern Lao provinces unlocks opportunities to link raw material sources, expand commerce, and attract processing enterprises.
Furthermore, renewable energy potential can create favorable conditions to develop industrial parks along green, sustainable lines. By effectively integrating raw material zones, industrial infrastructure, processing technologies, and clean energy, Thanh An Industrial Park can become a prime hub for agro-industrial development, contributing to boosting production and generating employment for local residents.
The agricultural sector also captures keen attention from investors, particularly regarding coffee trees. In 2026, the entire province recorded nearly 20,970ha of coffee, of which 6,190ha are in the commercial harvest stage, with green coffee bean output estimated at 8,500 tons. Notably, coffee is cultivated across 43 out of 45 communes and wards province-wide. The scale of this raw material zone provides the foundation for the province to attract enterprises to participate deeper in the agricultural value chain, from organizing cultivation zones to processing and distribution.
During the survey program, Chinese enterprises and investors expressed notable interest in exploring the local investment environment. Nguyễn Đình Dũng, Director of Dũng Minh Co., Ltd., stated: “Several Chinese investors inquired about economic potential, markets, mechanisms, and policies for enterprises investing in the province. This demonstrates that alongside advantages in raw materials and markets, the investment environment, transparency of administrative procedures, and administrative companionship are decisive factors for enterprises deliberating investment decisions.”
Beyond industry, logistics, and agriculture, the survey delegation also explored tourism, service, and resort projects across the province. Survey sites assisted investors in evaluating the potential of tapping landscapes, natural resources, and local cultural identity to develop tourism offerings. Through field assessments, numerous enterprises and investors expressed interest and sought opportunities to cooperate and deploy projects in the province.
At the 2026 International Investment Promotion Conference between Điện Biên province, Luang Prabang province (Lao PDR), and Yunnan province (China), Điện Biên province awarded 20 decisions approving investors with total registered capital of approximately VND 7,500 billion, unlocking avenues to mobilize additional resources for local socio-economic development.
To transform potentials and strengths into growth drivers, Điện Biên has been striving to improve its investment climate, resolve bottlenecks in infrastructure, logistics, and administrative procedures, and create favorable conditions for enterprises to execute projects. The fact that domestic and international investors are conducting field surveys across multiple fields opens up opportunities to bridge resources and effectively exploit the locality’s strengths.
