2026 Điện Biên International Trade Fair kicked off

ĐBP - On the evening of October 17, at 7/5 Square, the Điện Biên Provincial People’s Committee coordinated with the Việt Nam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the opening ceremony of the 2026 Điện Biên International Trade Fair under the theme “Điện Biên - A Trade Bridge, Reaching Out to the World.”

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Bùi Quang Hưng, Deputy Director-General of the Việt Nam Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Chinda Vongphosikham, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Vice Chairman of the Administrative Committee of Luang Prabang province; Dương Trung Hưng, Deputy Mayor of the Pu’er Municipal People’s Government, Yunnan province, China; representatives of leaders from northern Lao provinces, alongside the business community, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and domestic and international investors.

On the side of Điện Biên province, there were comrades: Lò Văn Cương, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Fair Organizing Board; members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, the Standing Board of the provincial People’s Council, leadership of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of provincial departments and sectors, together with a large gathering of local citizens and tourists.

Delivering the opening address, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lò Văn Cương emphasized that the 2026 Điện Biên International Trade Fair is a significant trade promotion activity, contributing to stimulating consumer demand and bolstering economic growth during the remaining months of the year.

The fair creates opportunities for enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments to promote products, expand consumer markets, seek business partners, and forge enduring production and off-take linkages; while concurrently fostering border trade, import-export operations, and logistics services. Through this, it contributes to elevating local incomes, accelerating growth across commerce, services, and the provincial GRDP; showcasing the image of Điện Biên, and widening avenues for investment cooperation and tourism development.

Taking place from October 17 to 22, the fair features a scale of 230 booths from enterprises, cooperatives, and business households hailing from numerous provinces and cities nationwide as well as enterprises from Laos and China.

Crowds of residents and visitors arrive for sightseeing and shopping right on the Fair’s opening night.

The fair is organized in tandem with the 2026 International Investment Promotion Conference between Điện Biên province (Việt Nam), Yunnan province (China), and Luang Prabang province (Laos), forming a key series of trade, investment, and tourism promotion activities for the province in 2026.

Through the fair, enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities gain added opportunities to enhance brand awareness, find partners, develop distribution networks, and broaden markets; while facilitating information exchange, matching supply and demand, and contributing to the formation of sustainable value and off-take supply chains.
