Outstanding women in Điện Biên Phủ city

ĐBP - Nguyễn Thị Hậu, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Mường Thanh ward, Điện Biên Phủ city, has been a shining example of dedication and leadership over the past five years.

With her enthusiastic and responsible spirit, she has spearheaded various movements and initiatives, working tirelessly alongside the union’s Standing Board to build a strong and vibrant organization. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as the Mường Thanh Women’s Union was awarded a certificate of merit by the Việt Nam Women’s Union in 2023 for its outstanding achievements in emulation movements and union activities.

Embracing the motto “Where there are women, there is a union”, Hậu has innovated the union’s activities, diversifying its programs to attract female members with various interests. Notable initiatives include establishing nine sports clubs with 140 participants and launching a “5 Haves, 3 Cleans” family model, engaging 157 members.

In 2024, the union welcomed nearly 200 new members, bringing the total to 1,280 members across 15 chapters, including 38 honorary male members.

Nguyễn Thị Hậu (far left) along with other women contribute savings to support members in difficult circumstances.

In response to the call for studying and emulating President Hồ Chí Minh’s thoughts, ethics, and lifestyle, Hậu, along with the Executive Board of the union, has launched 15 chapters to implement meaningful activities such as building “Houses of kindness” for disadvantaged women, sponsoring two underprivileged children with a monthly stipend of VNĐ 300,000, and supporting a disabled member with VNĐ 300,000 and 10kg of rice per month. The union has also promoted environmental protection through initiatives like reducing plastic waste, collecting and classifying waste, and collaborating with the city’s Women’s Development Fund to maintain activities across 21 clusters, providing loans of nearly VNĐ 2 billion to 59 members.

In response to the “Building a new-generation Vietnamese woman” movement, Hậu and the union’s Standing Board have developed a model for “Building a new-generation Mường Thanh woman”, focusing on friendliness, creativity, aspiration, and development. They have also implemented a “1+1” model, where an excellent chapter supports a good chapter, and an honorary member supports a male counterpart to become an honorary member.

For 17 years, Nguyễn Thị Tâm has dedicated herself to the women’s union in Điện Biên Phủ city’s Tân Thanh ward, earning the trust and admiration of her peers. As the Chairwoman of the women’s chapter in Tân Thanh’s Residential Quarter 6, Tâm has worked tirelessly to improve the material and spiritual lives of union members. Tâm’s efforts have focused on promoting the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, encouraging women to participate in emulation movements and campaigns like “All people unite to build new-style rural area and civilized city” and “Building families with 5 Nos and 3 Cleans”. She has also disseminated knowledge on building happy families and caring for children to promote economic development through union activities.

One of Tâm’s notable initiatives is the “Uncle Hồ’s rice jar” fund, which provides low-interest loans to union members in need. In 2024, the fund saved over VNĐ 150 million. The women’s chapter in Residential Quarter 6 has also sponsored a child with disabilities and raised over VNĐ 100 million in 2022 to support charitable activities and disaster relief efforts.

In addition to her work with the women’s union, Tâm has taken on multiple roles, including Chairwoman of the local Elderly Association, Farmers’ Association, and Red Cross Society. Her family has consistently been recognized as a “cultural family” annually. Tâm’s relentless efforts have earned her numerous certificates of merit and recognition from various levels.

Hậu and Tâm are two of the 59 exemplary individuals in Điện Biên province who received the title of “Outstanding Woman” and “Excellent grassroots Union official” from the Điện Biên provincial Women’s Union in 2024. They are not only dedicated to their work but also prioritize their families, fostering love, unity, and mutual support to build prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized families.
