Điện Biên Holds Inaugural Dialogue with Workers and Civil Servants

ĐBP - Điện Biên province hosted its first-ever dialogue conference with workers and civil servants on Wednesday. The event was chaired by Lê Thành Đô, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The conference also featured the participation of other provincial leaders and 400 delegates representing workers and civil servants from across the province.

Participants were briefed on the province's socio-economic achievements in 2023 and the first half of 2024, along with the significant accomplishments of the Provincial Labour Confederation during the same period. Prior to the event, the Provincial People's Committee received 30 submissions from union officials, members, and workers.

During the session, representatives from grassroots unions raised 11 direct questions, focusing on key issues such as special allowances for public sector employees, social housing policies, investment attraction, and incentives to retain skilled officials and lecturers.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Lê Thành Đô commended the dialogue's success, highlighting that the issues brought forward were both relevant and of great concern to workers and the wider public. He assured that the Provincial People's Committee, along with relevant authorities, would continue addressing the concerns raised, both directly and through written responses.

The Chairman also called for continued efforts to organise forums, meetings, and dialogue sessions, providing workers and civil servants with platforms to voice their views and share their legitimate concerns and proposals. He stressed the importance of promptly resolving issues related to workers' rights and interests.

Chairman Lê Thành Đô urged provincial departments and agencies to seriously consider the feedback received, review relevant regulations and policies, and propose necessary amendments to ensure effective policy implementation. He also called on the Labour Confederation to remain attentive to the sentiments and aspirations of union members and workers, proactively advise Party Committees, coordinate with local authorities and employers, and safeguard workers' interests.

The Confederation should also focus on addressing the pressing issues raised by workers and civil servants, while actively promoting harmonious, stable, and progressive labour relations within enterprises. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee presented 30 gifts to union members and workers facing hardships, who have excelled in production across the province.
