Điện Biên achieves key military goals in 2024

ĐBP — The People’s Committee of Điện Biên Province highlighted significant achievements in military and defence work during the year-end conference held on November 25.

Under the leadership of the Party, State, and Military Region 2 Command, and with the oversight of provincial authorities, Điện Biên successfully achieved its 2024 military and defence objectives.

Proactive monitoring of political and security developments enabled the province to promptly address emerging issues, maintaining stability and preventing unexpected disruptions. The province safeguarded national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while strengthening the all-people national defence system. Efforts included integrating defence with public security and border strategies, as well as enhancing the resilience and effectiveness of provincial and district defence zones.

A special focus was placed on training and raising defence and security awareness among targeted groups. Innovations in managing and training militia, self-defence forces, and reserve units ensured their readiness for any mission.

Significantly, the province achieved 100 per cent of its 2024 recruitment targets, meeting high standards in quality and efficiency.

Party and public organisations were consistently strengthened, with officers and soldiers of the armed forces demonstrating unwavering loyalty to Party leadership and readiness to execute all assigned tasks.

Vice Chairman Lò Văn Tiến highlighted the importance of addressing challenges to political security, social order, and national border sovereignty in 2025. He urged all levels and sectors to prioritise key tasks, including the effective implementation of national defence policies, reinforcing Party-building efforts, and modernising the armed forces. Recruitment, conscription, and military diplomacy will remain central to these efforts.

Combat readiness will be strictly maintained, particularly during Party Congresses for the 2025–2030 term. Training methods will adhere to the principles of “Basic, Practical, and Solid,” while comprehensive preparations will be undertaken for the Việt Nam–Laos–China defence friendship exchange.

Leader from Military Region 2 honours units with the "Winning unit" title.

At the conference, Military Region 2 presented the “Outstanding Comprehensive Excellence” flag and the “Advanced Unit” title to one collective, recognised 13 collectives as “Winning Units,” and honoured 22 individuals with titles including “Grassroots Emulation Soldier” and “Advanced Soldier.”
