The ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Mùa A Sơn; former Standing Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Lò Văn Muôn; Provincial Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Lê Thành Đô; Deputy Chair of the Provincial People’s Council Giàng Thị Hoa; along with other provincial officials and local leaders.
Running from October 2024 to March 2025, the festival showcases the region’s breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage through a variety of tourism activities and cultural experiences.
Highlights include the 10th annual swallow-tail boat race and the 5th national paragliding championship, scheduled from December 31 to January 5.
Visitors can also enjoy jet-skiing, motorised paragliding, reservoir excursions, and cultural tours of local Thái ethnic minority villages.
The festival aims to boost Mường Lay’s tourism appeal and drive regional tourism growth, particularly along the Đà River. It also seeks to strengthen interregional tourism links, focusing on expanding waterway routes connecting Mường Lay with surrounding areas.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Lê Thành Đô, highlighted the region’s rich tourism potential, marked by its natural beauty and unique intangible cultural heritage.
He called for increased investment to support tourism development, enhance cultural tourism offerings, and preserve cultural assets that are integral to Mường Lay’s identity.
To commemorate the occasion, Chairman Lê Thành Đô awarded Mường Lay the National Intangible Cultural Heritage certification from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, recognising the traditional crafts of khẩu xén and chí chọp cakes.
