Unlike familiar scenic sites, the terraced fields in Phù Lồng B hamlet retain a hidden charm, a pristine and rustic beauty. Covering about 2 hectares, the soft curves of the terraces embrace the hillsides, creating a magnificent and vivid natural painting. From above, visitors are overwhelmed by this masterpiece shaped by both nature and human effort. The highlight, the very heart of the landscape, is a giant circular “rice tray” formed by concentric terraces. From afar, it resembles a lush green xôi tray gifted by nature, a unique mark and a captivating invitation for those who love beauty. At dawn, when sunlight reflects on the dewdrops, the fields shimmer like silver. At dusk, golden hues pour over the circle, making it glow like a giant drum amidst Pu Nhi’s mountains.

Few would expect that this natural masterpiece was built by the diligent hands of villagers. Each household contributed a part, gradually reclaiming land originally only for subsistence, yet inadvertently becoming “artists” who created an extraordinary landscape.

The family of Sùng A Bi, in Nậm Ngám B hamlet, owns the most beautiful terrace, the round “heart.” He shared: “We reclaimed this land long ago. It was all manual work, so each year we only managed a little bit. The top terrace of the circle was only completed four years ago. It was tough, but seeing the results makes us happy. Every year we harvest about 40 bags of rice.”

What started as farming is now opening new opportunities. “Local officials encouraged us to welcome tourists, gradually developing tourism. For now, we let people visit freely. If more tourists come, we might start offering some services for extra income,” added Bi.

Since its discovery, Pu Nhi’s beauty has quickly caught the attention of travel enthusiasts. The quiet valley is now lively, drawing dozens, even hundreds, of photographers. Freelance photographer Phan Thành Trung, who often “hunts” landscapes in Điện Biên, said excitedly: “The terraces here are as beautiful as anywhere else, but the advantage is they’re very close to the city, with easy access, even cars can drive right up. I’ve been here several times, trying to catch the sunset but haven’t succeeded yet. I’ll definitely return when the rice ripens in the fall, under clear blue skies and golden sunlight, to capture the perfect shot.”

This expectation is shared by many visitors. Pu Nhi is at its most stunning, promising a dazzling season of golden harvest soon. Sensing the appeal, many households nearby have cleaned up the surroundings, creating picturesque “check-in” corners. Small wooden chairs, swings with panoramic views, ethnic costumes for rent, drinks, and local farm produce are now available, offering tourists both beauty and experience.
