Held from April 29 to May 7 at the historic Command Bunker of the Điện Biên Phủ Strongpoint Group, the event has successfully drawn a large volume of local residents and tourists seeking to explore the nation’s heroic past.
The exhibition features 70 selected photographs and documents meticulously organized into three thematic sections.
The opening segment documents Operation Castor, illustrating the French expeditionary forces’ parachute occupation on November 20, 1953, the subsequent fortification of the strongpoint group, and the diligent strategic preparations made by the Vietnam People’s Army.
The narrative then shifts to the second section, which vividly portrays the 56 days and nights of fire during the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign from March 13 to May 7, 1954. This portion highlights the iconic moment the “Determined to Fight, Determined to Win” flag was raised atop de Castries’ bunker, marking a decisive victory that forced the French to sign the Geneva Accords and withdraw from North Vietnam.
The final section is dedicated to showcasing the modern and thriving appearance of present-day Điện Biên.
This initiative is designed to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the magnitude and historical weight of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to promote the image of the land and people of Điện Biên to both domestic and international friends during the holiday break.
