Sylvain Plaquevent, a French tourist, arrived in Điện Biên on March 13, coinciding with the Ban Flower Festival. Opting not for conventional transportation, Sylvain chose to cycle around Điện Biên Phủ city, embracing the authenticity of local life and nature. For him, this is not only the best way to enjoy the scenery but also to immerse himself in the local rhythm of life.

During his journey, he stopped at the Highlands Cultural Space located at the historical site of the Điện Biên Phủ stronghold (General De Castries’s bunker), where the daily life of Điện Biên’s ethnic minority communities is vividly recreated. Here, he had the chance to savor traditional dishes such as sticky rice, smoked buffalo meat, and thắng cố (a traditional horse meat soup). He was particularly delighted to witness firsthand and try on traditional costumes of Điện Biên’s ethnic minorities.

Điện Biên is an attractive land drawing many international tourists.

“I am truly amazed by the festive atmosphere here. The people are friendly, the natural scenery is magnificent, and I have never seen a festival that so vividly integrates culture, history, and people like this,” shared Sylvain. Being a history enthusiast, he was especially impressed when visiting the actual location of the epic 1954 battle. “This is a historically significant site. I've read a lot about the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign, but standing here allows me to fully grasp the scale and importance of this victory.”

Another visitor, Panya Wichit from Thailand, also made his first trip to Điện Biên during the Ban Flower Festival. He revealed that he was attracted to the event after seeing images of the festival on social media.

Upon arriving, Panya was immediately struck by the majestic natural beauty, especially the mountain slopes covered in blooming Ban flowers. “In Thailand, we have many flower festivals, but the Ban Flower Festival here is truly unique. It is not just a flower festival but also an opportunity to showcase the region’s culture and history,” Panya noted.

Along with sightseeing, Panya visited the Martyrs’ Temple at the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield and Thành Bản Phủ (Bản Phủ Citadel), where he deeply felt the sacredness and reverence for those who sacrificed during the resistance wars. “I believe that is what makes Điện Biên special - it is a land of heroic history, cultural diversity, and stunning natural scenery,” he added.

Not only Sylvain Plaquevent and Panya Wichit but many international visitors have been captivated by Điện Biên’s harmonious blend of nature, culture, and history. The Ban Flower Festival 2025 is not only a celebration of this iconic Northwestern flower but also a chance to promote Điện Biên’s image globally.
