2024 Tủa Chùa District Week of Culture, Sports, and Tourism kicks off

ĐBP – More than 530 athletes from 14 teams, representing communes, townships, professional departments, and schools in Tủa Chùa District, Điện Biên Province, are competing in the Week of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The event, which runs from October 16 to 20, is organised by the Tủa Chùa District’s People's Committee.

Athletes are competing in 24 different events. Specifically, women's football and volleyball will be held from October 16-20; stick pushing on October 16; crossbow shooting on October 16-17; tù lu (a traditional spinning top game) on October 17; còn ball throwing on October 17-18; and rope-pulling from October 19-20.

Most competitions will take place at the Tủa Chùa District’s Stadium, with crossbow shooting held at the multipurpose hall of Tủa Chùa High School.

At the end of the sports competitions, the organising board will present first, second, and joint-third prizes to the winners of each event.

In addition to the sports competitions, Tủa Chùa District is also hosting various folk games such as blindfolded duck-catching, dry bridge-crossing, sack races, and blindfolded drum-hitting.

The event will also feature performances of the Mông people’s khèn (panpipe), traditional costume showcases of ethnic groups, sticky rice cake pounding competitions, maize grinding for mèn mén (steamed corn flour), culinary contests, and a bird singing competition./.
