Tuần Giáo reviews two years of agricultural sector restructuring

ĐBP - Tuần Giáo District in Điện Biên Province held a conference on Thursday to review two years of its agricultural sector restructuring programme and to outline plans for 2025.

The event was attended by Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with Lò Văn Tiến, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presents a Certificate of Merit to an individual for outstanding achievements in implementing Resolution No 09-NQ/TU dated July 29, 2021, by the Provincial Party Executive Committee.

After nearly two years of dedicated efforts and strong involvement from the entire political system, Tuần Giáo District has seen positive results in its agricultural restructuring programme. The district’s agricultural production growth rate has reached 4.99 per cent annually, with an estimated production value of VNĐ975.6 billion in 2024.

Currently, Tuần Giáo boasts over 5,913 hectares of macadamia, making it the district with the largest macadamia cultivation area in the country. The coffee cultivation area has also quadrupled, growing from nearly 400 hectares to over 1,500 hectares.

Additionally, the district has planted, maintained, and protected 706 hectares of various fruit trees, including mango, pineapple, pear, pomelo, and longan.

By the end of 2025, the district aims to expand its macadamia cultivation to nearly 10,000 hectares, with 8,000 hectares cultivated by local residents, and to increase its coffee plantation area to 3,000 hectares.

Tuần Giáo District leaders present Certificates of Merit to groups for their achievements in agricultural restructuring and new rural development.

In his speech at the conference, Lò Văn Tiến, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, praised the achievements of the agricultural restructuring programme. He urged the Tuần Giáo District Party Committee to focus on maintaining and expanding the current cultivation areas, particularly for macadamia, coffee, and medicinal plants grown under forest canopies. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing cultivation in linked zones and attracting businesses to invest in processing projects.

Tiến emphasised the need to improve infrastructure to support restructuring efforts and to mobilise resources effectively for the agricultural sector’s transformation in the district.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit to one individual, while the District People's Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 15 groups and 48 individuals for their outstanding contributions to agricultural restructuring and new rural development in the district.
