Voters in Điện Biên province are placing their trust in the council to deliver sound, practical decisions that spark development aspirations and create new momentum for the province to break through and grow rapidly and sustainably in the coming period.

Following the successful election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, the public has closely followed the proceedings through various media channels. This first session is particularly vital as it focuses on perfecting the organizational apparatus and electing key leadership positions for the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee, laying the foundation for a smooth and effective government for the next five years.

Voter confidence is not only driven by hope but also reinforced by the positive results achieved in the previous term. From 2021 to 2026, the provincial People’s Council implemented significant innovations in both its content and methodology. It successfully organized 24 sessions, comprising 10 regular, three thematic, and 11 extraordinary sessions, and issued 398 resolutions. The quality of these sessions improved, ensuring resolutions remained close to reality, while oversight and questioning became more substantive. Notably, the resolution rate for petitions following oversight activities reached over 96%, helping the political system resolve many practical issues and promote local socio-economic growth.

Young delegates attending this first session share a common sense of responsibility and a desire to contribute their intellect to local decision-making. Cà Thị Hoa, a member of the Tiến Đạt Cooperative, noted that her duty involves listening to the grassroots level and capturing the aspirations of the people to reflect them promptly to the authorities. For the new term, she hopes for more mechanisms to support and improve the quality of OCOP products, allowing Điện Biên’s agricultural goods to assert their position and gain consumer trust.

The election of key leadership roles with high confidence scores reflects a spirit of unity and democracy. Those entrusted with these positions recognize that their mandate is a reflection of public faith. They have pledged to inherit and promote the successful results of previous terms while maximizing their sense of responsibility to resolve policy inadequacies for the benefit of the people and the development of the province.

The 15th provincial Party Congress for 2025-2030 and the 5-year socio-economic development plan aim to transform Điện Biên into a green, smart, and sustainable province by 2030. The province intends to become an important tourism center for the Northwest and a well-developed locality in the region. To realize this, three strategic breakthroughs and 16 groups of socio-economic targets have been identified, requiring the collective determination of the entire political system and the ethnic groups of Điện Biên.

According to Lê Thành Đô, Chairman of the 16th provincial People’s Council, the expectations placed on the council for this new term are immense. The 16th council will continue to uphold the heroic Điện Biên Phủ spirit and inherit the achievements of previous terms while striving for a professional, modern, and effective operation. By following the comprehensive leadership of the Party and enhancing oversight functions, the council aims to ensure that policies are implemented seriously and substantively. With a spirit of solidarity and a commitment to effective action, the 16th provincial People’s Council is prepared to meet the requirements of the province’s new developmental stage.
