Tìa Dình determined to maintain drug-free commune

ĐBP - With the goal of repelling drug-related vices and preserving peace for the people, the Party committee, administration, and police forces of Tìa Dình commune have implemented synchronized solutions to firmly retain the status of a “drug-free commune.”

As a highland area facing transportation challenges, maintaining security and order in Tìa Dình commune poses continuous difficulties for functional forces. However, the policy of dispatching regular police officers to the communal level, combined with the “All people protect national security” movement and the exemplary role of reputable community figures, has brought positive transformations in drug prevention and control. By December 2025, four drug-affected villages in Tìa Dình were successfully transformed into drug-free villages. Tìa Dình was subsequently recognized as a drug-free commune.

In Trống Dình village, this transformation is evident in residents’ awareness and actions. Village Party Cell Secretary Vàng A Già shared: “Thanks to commune officials and commune police regularly visiting the village to educate residents on the harmful effects of drugs, villagers have heightened their awareness, continuously reminding their children not to use or aid in the transport of illicit substances. As a result, the village no longer has any drug addicts or social vices, and local security and order are firmly maintained.”

Achieving the “drug-free commune” criteria is challenging, but preserving those results proves even more arduous. Clear on this reality, the Tìa Dình commune Police proactively advised local Party committees and authorities to implement Plan No.48/KH-UBND on maintaining a “drug-free commune” for the 2026-2030 period, organizing pledge signings across departments, sectors, mass organizations, and local households.

Leadership and guidance in drug control have been strengthened; functional forces conduct regular inspections, roll calls, screenings, and drug tests on managed individuals, while surveying and assessing the status of addicts, illegal drug users, and those under post-rehabilitation supervision. Relevant movements are promptly updated on the National Population Database, and 100% of illegal drug trafficking subjects are placed under operational surveillance.

Social prevention remains a central focus. The local Party committee, administration, and commune police collaborate with agencies, mass organizations, and schools to step up legal education and dissemination, raising public vigilance, proactive prevention, and crime reporting. Simultaneously, authorities review and compile rosters of managed individuals absent from the locality, those departing their place of residence, or those with unknown destinations to tighten supervision.

Thanks to the synchronized execution of measures, crime prevention and control in the commune have yielded important results. Catching Giàng Sáy Có, residing in Huổi Tống village, red-handed for illegal drug possession in June 2026 demonstrated the proactive vigilance of the police forces in detecting and combating drug crimes at the grassroots. Alongside direct combat, the commune police currently manage 10 addicts and 10 post-rehabilitation individuals at their places of residence, strictly conducting roll calls, identity checks, situational monitoring, and tracking individuals at risk of falling into crime or social vices.

Senior Lieutenant Mùa A Khá, Chief of Tìa Dình commune Police, stated: “Alongside legal dissemination and education for residents, the commune police regularly warn, remind, and deter individuals with prior convictions or criminal records to prevent recidivism. Simultaneously, we leverage the role of village elders, village heads, and reputable persons in urging their relatives to abide by the law, avoiding violations, assistance, or illegal drug use.”

Village heads, reputable figures, and the grassroots security team in Tìa Dình regularly disseminating information to mobilize residents to stay away from drugs.

Identifying drug prevention and control as a regular, long-term task, Tìa Dình commune is focusing on deploying synchronized solutions suited to local realities. This includes integrating the “All people protect national security” movement with “Clever mass mobilization” models, maximizing the role of grassroots security forces, closely combining social prevention with professional investigation, and enhancing communications, education, and local area management.

With active participation from local Party committees and authorities, alongside high resolve from functional forces and residents, Tìa Dình is steadily consolidating and maintaining its “drug-free commune” status. This serves as a vital foundation for safeguarding security and order, establishing a stable environment for local socioeconomic development, elevating living standards, and preserving peaceful life for the people.
