Strengthening the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices

ĐBP - In recent years, under the leadership of the provincial Party Committee, significant progress has been made in preventing and combating corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices across Điện Biên province.

Efforts ranging from raising awareness and strengthening leadership and direction to enhancing inspection and supervision, as well as detecting and handling violations, have been implemented in a coordinated manner, clearly reflecting a strong commitment to early and proactive prevention. These efforts have contributed to building a clean and strong political system while maintaining political security, social order and safety across the province.

Recognizing the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices as a regular task in Party building and the strengthening of the political system, the Standing Committee of the Nà Tấu commune Party Committee has focused on directing Party committees, Party organizations, local authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations to step up the study, dissemination and strict implementation of resolutions, directives, regulations and conclusions issued by the central and provincial authorities on internal affairs and the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices.

A key focus has been the implementation of Resolution No.09-NQ/TU dated December 31, 2025, issued by the provincial Party Committee on continuing to reform and improve the quality of internal affairs and the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices, as well as Resolution No.07-NQ/DU of the commune Party Committee on ensuring national defense and security and implementing internal affairs and the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices for the 2025-2030 period. At the same time, advisory and support agencies have advised on the issuance of 13 documents providing leadership and direction on internal affairs and the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices, creating a basis for consistent and coordinated implementation.

The Economic and Budget Committee of the Nà Tấu commune People’s Council supervises the implementation of policies and support schemes for students at Ngối Cáy Secondary School.

Thanks to the decisive implementation of these tasks, awareness and responsibility among Party committees, local authorities, officials, Party members and the public regarding the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices have continued to improve. Regulations on transparency and disclosure, the management of public finances and assets, and the accountability of heads of agencies and organizations have been strictly enforced, helping prevent potential violations from arising at the grassroots level.

Alongside communication and dissemination efforts, Nà Tấu commune has paid close attention to inspection and supervision in areas where misconduct is more likely to occur. The commune-level People’s Committee established two inspection teams. One inter-sectoral team inspected food hygiene and safety at collective kitchens in schools across the area and completed the inspections and issued reports as required. Another team inspected management and educational activities at educational institutions during the 2025-2026 academic year and completed the inspection and consolidation of results in accordance with regulations.

Nguyễn Tiến Tuấn, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nà Tấu commune Party Committee, said: “Through inspection and supervision, the management of public finances and assets has become more rigorous. This has helped prevent violations and maintain discipline and order within the grassroots political system. During the reporting period, no cases of corruption, wastefulness or misconduct were detected, and no affiliated Party organization or Party member was subject to disciplinary action.”

Efforts to prevent and combat corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices across the province continue to be implemented comprehensively at all levels and across all sectors. Alongside stronger preventive measures, the detection, investigation and handling of violations have been pursued decisively, contributing to more effective State management, maintaining discipline and order, and protecting state assets and resources.

Relevant authorities have detected, prosecuted, investigated and handled corruption and abuse-of-office cases involving embezzlement and the abuse of positions and powers to appropriate assets. At the same time, numerous cases involving the trading of smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, and prohibited goods have been detected and dealt with, contributing to a healthy business environment.

In the first six months of the year, the provincial police investigated and uncovered two cases involving four suspects accused of corruption and abuse of office, five cases involving 17 suspects accused of offenses against economic management regulations, and six environmental cases involving eight defendants. Administrative penalties were also imposed in 176 cases, with total fines exceeding VND 722 million, including 100 cases in the economic sector and 76 environmental cases.

Alongside investigative activities, inspections have continued to be carried out in a coordinated manner. Across the province, 27 planned inspections have been conducted, with 20 inspection conclusions issued. The inspections uncovered violations involving a total amount of VND 4,296.77 million. Authorities recommended the recovery of VND 4,190.41 million and proposed other forms of corrective action involving VND 106.36 million. Disciplinary reviews were recommended for three organizations and 291 individuals. To date, 100% of the amount recommended for recovery has been paid into the State budget.

These results show that efforts to prevent and combat corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices across the province are becoming increasingly decisive and coordinated, combining prevention with the detection and handling of violations, and linking inspection and auditing with the investigation and prosecution of emerging cases. These efforts have contributed to maintaining discipline and order, improving the effectiveness of State management and strengthening public confidence.

In the coming period, authorities at all levels and sectors will continue to strictly implement the 2026 legal regulations on the prevention and combat of corruption, in accordance with the direction of the Government, the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, the Government Inspectorate, the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee and Plan No.372/KH-UBND dated January 15, 2026, issued by the provincial People’s Committee on the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices in the province in 2026.

At the same time, relevant authorities will continue to implement coordinated professional measures and launch campaigns to crack down on and suppress crime. They will also continue reviewing and addressing delayed construction works and projects that pose risks of losses and wastefulness.
