Pride in the nation’s history

ĐBP - On the land that witnessed a victory that “resounded across the five continents and shook the world,” every step in the growth of Điện Biên’s young generation has been nurtured by a proud tradition of patriotism and revolution. The spirit of Điện Biên Phủ continues to inspire today’s youths, motivating them to cultivate aspirations, contribute to society, and help build an increasingly prosperous homeland.

These days, at martyrs’ cemeteries across the province, the 500-day Campaign to intensify the search, recovery, and identification of unidentified martyrs’ remains is being carried out with urgency. Amid the July rains, officers and soldiers continue their meticulous work of excavation and biological sample collection, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and dedication in every task.

Youths from the provincial Military Command participate in the “500-Day Campaign” to search for, recover, and conduct DNA identification of unidentified martyrs’ remains.

As one of the soldiers directly involved in the campaign, Senior Sergeant Lùng Văn Phú of Regiment 741 under the provincial Military Command approaches every assignment with great care and precision. For him, identifying one more martyr’s grave means easing the long-standing sorrow and hope of families who have waited for decades.

“Participating in the 500-day Campaign, I feel that this is a sacred mission. We are always grateful to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom we enjoy today. Therefore, every officer and soldier is determined to fulfill the task to the best of our ability and help restore the names of these martyrs as soon as possible,” Senior Sergeant Lùng Văn Phú shared.

The spirit of gratitude is not limited to the soldiers carrying out this meaningful mission. It is also being embraced by youths of Điện Biên through a wide range of practical activities. On major national anniversaries and commemorative occasions, youth organizations throughout the province organize numerous traditional education programs, including offering incense in tribute to fallen heroes, caring for martyrs’ cemeteries, visiting policy beneficiary families, “returning to the roots” journeys, activities at historical and revolutionary sites, and competitions on national history, Party history, and the history of Điện Biên.

Sùng A Tá, a Youth Union officer in Nậm Kè commune, raises the national flag, spreading love for the homeland and national pride ahead of major national celebrations.

Through these activities, young people gain a deeper understanding of the nation’s glorious past while strengthening their patriotism, national pride, and sense of responsibility for preserving and promoting the country’s sacred historical values.

Sùng A Tá, a Youth Union officer in Nậm Kè commune, shared: “As a young person born and raised in the heroic land of Điện Biên, I am always proud of my hometown’s revolutionary tradition. Every journey to historical sites and every activity honoring fallen heroes helps us better understand the sacrifices made by previous generations to secure the peaceful life we enjoy today. That is also the motivation for young people to continue learning, improving themselves, living responsibly, and contributing more to their homeland.”

Inspired by a strong revolutionary tradition, today’s youths of Điện Biên are not only proud of the nation’s glorious history but are also deeply aware of their role and mission in building and defending the country through practical actions and meaningful initiatives.

Twenty-eight disadvantaged students from the province and twelve international students from six northern Lao provinces are being cared for, supported, and provided with favorable learning conditions by the provincial Police.

With a spirit of dedication and volunteerism, young people throughout the province have actively participated in new rural development programs, environmental protection efforts, digital transformation initiatives, and social welfare activities. They have mobilized resources to provide gifts and support for poor households, disadvantaged children, policy beneficiary families, and individuals who have rendered meritorious service to the revolution.

Through these efforts, they demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and responsibility of the younger generation toward the community.

Major Lò Văn Long, Head of the Youth Affairs Division of the Điện Biên provincial Police, said: “Youths of the provincial Police actively participate in community-oriented activities and support younger generations. We are currently implementing the “Children of Điện Biên Police” Program, under which we directly care for and support 28 disadvantaged students from the province and 12 international students from six northern Lao provinces. We hope to provide them with favorable conditions for study and personal development, giving them additional motivation to overcome challenges in life. This is also how youths of the Điện Biên Police demonstrate their responsibility to the community and help spread humanitarian values and the nation’s fine traditions.”

Pride in the nation’s history continues through patriotism, responsibility, and the aspiration to contribute from one generation to the next.

Alongside community service activities, youth organizations across the province have focused on supporting young people in economic development, entrepreneurship, and career building. Through training courses, technology transfer programs, startup consulting, and product marketing support, many young people, especially those from ethnic minority communities, have confidently expanded production and improved their incomes.

Since 2024, nearly 26,000 young people across the province have received career guidance, while almost 4,500 have been introduced to employment opportunities. These achievements not only create pathways for young people to establish careers and livelihoods but also inspire aspirations to succeed through knowledge, determination, and youthful energy, continuing the tradition of self-reliance and resilience inherited from previous generations.

Mùa Chiến Thắng, Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, affirmed: “The heroic history of our nation is a tremendous source of inspiration for youths of Điện Biên to strive, develop, and contribute. We will continue to innovate traditional education activities and create opportunities for young people to demonstrate their pioneering spirit and creativity through practical projects and initiatives. Every meaningful action today is a way for young people to carry forward the revolutionary tradition and contribute to the continued development of Điện Biên.”
