NA Standing Committee and National Election Council inspect election work in Điện Biên

ĐBP - On January 14, the supervision and inspection delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council, led by Vũ Hồng Thanh, National Assembly Vice Chairman, worked with the Election Committee of Điện Biên province regarding the implementation of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.

Working with the delegation were Trần Tiến Dũng, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial Election Steering Committee; Lê Văn Lương, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of the provincial Election Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee, leaders of the National Assembly Delegation, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Election Committee of the province...

Implementing the directing documents of the Government and the National Election Council, Điện Biên province has established the provincial Election Steering Committee comprising 20 members, the provincial Election Committee comprising 30 members; 100% of communes and wards have established Steering Boards, Election Boards, and assisting sub-committees according to regulations. The whole province is assigned 3 constituencies for National Assembly deputies to elect 7 deputies; 11 constituencies for provincial People’s Council deputies to elect 50 deputies; the communal level has 263 constituencies to elect 926 People’s Council deputies.

The first consultative conference was organized on schedule; it is expected to introduce 12 candidates for National Assembly deputies, 96 candidates for provincial People’s Council deputies, and 1,686 candidates for communal People’s Council deputies, ensuring the structure and composition according to regulations. Dissemination work has been promoted. The Điện Biên Newspaper and Radio - Television has published over 1,500 news items, articles, and photos popularizing the election on print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio waves, television, and social networking platforms; opened a new column “Election of National Assembly Deputies and People’s Council Deputies at all levels” on Điện Biên Phủ Printed Newspaper. Many news items and articles have been edited and translated into ethnic languages (Thái, Hmông) and English to disseminate to a large number of people.

In particular, to ensure the election takes place securely, the province reviewed the needs for reinforcement and secondment of communes and wards and actual conditions to decide to second 27 provincial-level civil servants and public employees to assist the communal level in implementing election work...

At the working session, delegates discussed advantages and difficulties as well as listened to and answered recommendations of the province, such as: Allocating additional funding to serve election work suitable to the conditions of a mountainous and border province; strengthening professional guidance and application of information technology in synthesis and reporting, contributing to reducing the load for the grassroots level and ensuring the election takes place in accordance with the law, democratically, safely, and economically...

National Assembly Vice Chairman Vũ Hồng Thanh highly appreciated the proactive and serious spirit of Điện Biên province in election preparation work. He suggested that the province continue to closely follow the direction of the Central Government; pay attention to creating favorable conditions for candidates for National Assembly deputies introduced by the Government to the locality. Along with that, it is necessary to review, update, and fully supplement the list of voters, ensuring the voting rights of citizens, especially those working or studying away from their place of residence, people with disabilities, and the elderly; strengthen grasping the situation and public opinion among the people, promptly resolving issues arising right from the grassroots level; proactively struggle against and refute false, distorted, incorrect, and inaccurate information related to the election; ensure security, order, and social safety serving the election.

Regarding the proposals and recommendations of the province, the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council will consider and resolve them according to their competence.

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee hoped that the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council would continue to pay attention to Điện Biên province as well as study and consider the proposals and recommendations of the province.
