Closely following the province’s development orientation, the Party Committee of Na Son commune has selected central and key tasks to focus leadership and direction. Ranging from restructuring the agricultural sector toward concentrated, green, smart, and sustainable commodities, developing key crops, and building OCOP products to sustainable poverty reduction and exploiting commercial and service potential, all aspects have been materialized by the commune Party Committee into specialized resolutions and work programs tailored to local realities. This approach has generated unity in both awareness and action, step-by-step transforming the resolution’s objectives into concrete results within the people’s daily lives.
One of the central priorities identified by the locality is developing agriculture toward concentrated commodities, taking residents as the main subject while utilizing enterprises and cooperatives as the core nuclei for production linkage. This also stands as one of the major objectives defined by the Action Program of the Executive Board of the provincial Party Committee to effectively exploit local potential and advantages, elevate residents’ incomes, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction.
On that basis, the Party Committee of Na Son commune formulated Action Program No.23-CTr/ĐU of the commune Party Executive Committee to implement the Resolution of the 15th Congress of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 tenure, while concurrently issuing Resolution No.19-NQ/ĐU dated April 8, 2026 regarding agricultural sector restructuring for the 2026 - 2030 phase. This resolution determines agricultural development toward concentrated, green, smart, and sustainable commodities, focusing on shifting crop structures to promote the locality’s available advantages. The commune has accelerated dissemination regarding crop structure conversion to all cadres, party members, and local citizens, centering primarily on developing two key crops which are coffee and macadamia.
To date, the macadamia area in the locality has reached nearly 779 ha, including nearly 119 ha of new cultivation. Coffee plants are step-by-step becoming a major new crop with an area of over 92 ha. Particularly in 2026, the locality completed digging more than 560,000 pits, corresponding to 160 ha of coffee, mobilizing over 1,150 turns of cadres, party members, youth union members, association members, and residents to participate. Looking toward 2030, Na Son strives to develop 1,500 ha of macadamia, 1,000 ha of coffee, and 100 ha of pineapples, while concurrently building additional OCOP products and safe food supply chains. These goals tightly align with the orientation for key crop development set out in Action Program No.40-CTr/TU of the provincial Party Committee.
Driven by the Party’s guidelines, numerous households have boldly altered their agricultural production mindsets. A prime example is the family of Hạng A Thái, residing in Residential Group 3, who boldly converted 3 ha of rice and corn cultivation land to develop coffee trees. Following 3 years of care, the orchard yielded its very first harvest with an output of around 15 tons of fresh berries. Selling at a price ranging from VND 25,000 - 30,000/kg, the family cleared an income of over VND 300 million per year after deducting costs. Realizing that coffee trees perfectly suit the local climate and soil conditions, Hạng A Thái’s family continued to convert their remaining 8 ha of corn land to coffee planting in 2026.
Hạng A Thái shared his experience: “Previously, my family primarily cultivated corn, which brought a very low income. Since shifting to coffee planting, our family’s economy has become much more affluent. Through practical production, I see that coffee trees are highly suitable for local conditions, so I continue expanding the area to secure a stable income and upgrade our living standards.”
Alongside agricultural development, Na Son is actively exploiting renewable energy. The locality is coordinating with functional organs and investors to carry out surveys, measurements, ownership verifications, and site clearance to serve the Điện Biên 1 Solar Power Plant Project. The project features a design capacity of 300MW and a total investment of over VND 5,371 billion, deployed across Điện Biên Phủ ward alongside Na Son, Mường Lạn, and Pu Nhi communes, with construction expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026. This project is highly anticipated to create a powerful new growth driver for the locality.
Quàng Văn Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Na Son commune People’s Committee, stated: “On the basis of Action Program No.40-CTr/TU of the Executive Board of the provincial Party Committee, the Standing Board of the commune Party Committee has built an action program and specialized resolutions for each respective field. Concurrently, we formulated concrete plans, clearly assigned responsibilities, and mobilized the involvement of the entire political system alongside public consensus for execution. Through this, we step-by-step exploit local potentials and advantages effectively, elevate residents’ living standards, and create a solid foundation for sustainable development in the coming time.”
Thanks to the synchronous deployment of multiple solutions, agricultural production within Na Son commune remained fundamentally stable during the first 6 months of the year. The production value of industry and small handicrafts was estimated to reach VND 84.81 billion. Commercial and service activities continue to maintain their growth momentum, while promotion efforts for OCOP products are heavily pushed, directly upgrading the living standards of local residents.
