Officers from Regiment 916, Division 371; Regiment 930, Division 372; and Regiment 917, Division 370 of the Air Defense – Air Force meticulously prepared for the training session, commencing at 4 am to ensure safety requirements.

During the first joint rehearsal at the Điện Biên Phủ Airport, the units on duty conducted three flight periods, each lasting about 45 minutes. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyễn Văn Hoàng, Deputy Political Commissar of Air Force Regiment 916, Division 371, who directly participated in the helicopter military parade, noted that weather conditions at Điện Biên were not entirely favourable during the first training session.

The pilots’ visibility was affected due to thick clouds, hindering their ability to maintain formation while flying. The airport is located in a basin area, surrounded by high hills and mountains.

 Some pilots flew for the first time at the Điện Biên Phủ Airport, encountering certain difficulties. However, overall, the first helicopter joint rehearsal of the three units at the airport took place with absolute safety and met expected requirements.

The training ranged from simple to complex, from easy to difficult, encompassing formations of two and three helicopters up to six and nine. Additionally, equipped with good technical resources and a strong spirit, officers, soldiers, and pilots of the Air Defense – Air Force are determined to execute this particularly important task well during the 70th Anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, scheduled for May 7.
