Feedback welcomed to finalise the publication of Điện Biên Phủ book

ĐBP – The Steering Committee for the book "Heroes and Soldiers of Điện Biên Phủ" has announced that it will continue to accept feedback and suggestions on the book to update and correct the data, aiming to create the best possible version for its official release.

This statement was made at a conference evaluating the publication results of the book on Wednesday.

Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Steering Committee, chaired the meeting.

In the process of publishing the book, the Steering Committee has actively collaborated with cities and provinces across the country to gather and correct data, including lists of soldiers, young volunteers and frontline workers who played crucial roles in the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign.

The book includes references, biographies and portraits of the heroes and soldiers of Điện Biên Phủ, with QR codes to help readers access the lists honouring soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers.

The Steering Committee for the book has seriously considered the feedback from readers, especially provincial leaders, corrected and updated the data and materials about the heroes and martyrs, ensuring objectivity and accuracy before its official publication.

Previously in April, the Steering Committee, Editorial Team, Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilisation, and the Sự Thật (Truth) National Political Publishing House organised the printing and publication of 2,500 copies as a trial.

The provincial Veterans Association received the books at the end of April and distributed 1,000 copies to delegates attending the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.

The remaining copies were allocated to the provincial Department of Education and Training, the Central Việt Nam Veterans Association, and veterans' associations in all 63 cities and provinces.

The total cost for publishing the book was VNĐ850 million (US$33,660), covered by both socialised funding and provincial budget resources.

Since the book’s publication, it has received numerous contributions and expressions of gratitude from veterans, provincial leaders, and city officials across the country.

During the meeting, the Steering Committee for the book discussed the advantages and challenges encountered in researching and gathering data, structuring the outline, determining the number of pages, format, and presentation methods to minimise errors in the final publication.

They also recommended continuing to assign tasks to the permanent agency to collect feedback and suggestions on the book for data corrections and updates if any mistakes are found.

The Permanent Deputy Secretary suggested establishing a website to introduce the book and assigned the Provincial Veterans Association to oversee it, collecting and compiling feedback for future revisions and reprints.

He also mentioned that the Department of Finance should proactively handle the settlement of expenses for the book's publication.
