At the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng provided an overview of the potentials, advantages, and development orientations of Điện Biên. He also expressed the hope that KOCHAM would assist in connecting Korean corporations and enterprises to research, survey, and implement suitable projects across Điện Biên province.

Specifically, Điện Biên prioritizes attracting investment into high-tech agriculture, medicinal herbs, agro-forestry processing, manufacturing industries, resort and healthcare tourism, and urban development. These are sectors the province has identified in its cooperation orientation with the Korean business community. With positive results achieved in recent times, Điện Biên is progressively opening up more room for investment, production, and business activities.

In the first 6 months of 2026, the province’s economy grew by 8.67% year-on-year; over the first 7 months, the industrial production index increased by over 14%, and total social development investment capital reached nearly VND 10,700 billion. The tourism sector recorded robust growth, welcoming more than 1 million visitor arrivals with revenue reaching nearly VND 1,900 billion in the first 7 months of the year.

Notably, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng highlighted the development orientation of the cultural industry, linking Điện Biên’s unique historical and cultural values with tourism development. The province aspires to host more large-scale, internationally recognized cultural and artistic events, thereby creating new products, enhancing destination appeal, and attracting international visitors, including the Korean market.

Highly appreciating Điện Biên’s potential and development opportunities, KOCHAM Chairman Ko Tae Yeon remarked that both sides possess significant room to strengthen cooperation. KOCHAM currently serves as a bridge for the Korean business community in Vietnam, comprising nearly 10,000 enterprises operating across diverse sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, information technology, and services.

The Chairman of KOCHAM expressed the desire to explore further cooperation opportunities with Điện Biên, primarily in connecting enterprises, researching suitable projects, and developing human resources. He noted that human resource training and vocational skills improvement could serve as practical cooperation avenues, creating conditions for Điện Biên workers to be trained, access the labor market, and secure employment opportunities in the Republic of Korea.

Given the scale of the Korean business community operating in Vietnam and its strengths in investment matching, training, and human resource development, KOCHAM can act as an effective bridge for Điện Biên to connect deeply with Korean enterprises and corporations. In return, Điện Biên offers favorable conditions in land, agriculture, medicinal herbs, tourism, and labor for viable projects.

During the working session, both sides discussed possibilities for strengthening connections between Korean businesses and Điện Biên province, coordinating investment promotion conferences and forums, and exploring the signing of memorandums of understanding on cooperation. Điện Biên province has prepared promotional materials on “Investment Potentials and Opportunities” and the “List of Investment Projects” in both Vietnamese and Korean to introduce to the Korean business community.

The meeting opens an additional direct connection channel between Điện Biên and the Korean business community, aiming to translate the province’s potentials and strengths into concrete investment projects while expanding cooperation in tourism, the cultural industry, and human resource development.
