Điện Biên deploys preparations for 2026 provincial defensive area exercise

ĐBP - On May 13, Trần Tiến Dũng, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation, and Secretary of the provincial Military Party Committee, chaired the meeting of the Steering Committee for the 2026 provincial defensive area exercise.

Attending the meeting were members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, the Standing Board of the provincial People’s Council, leaders of the provincial People’s Committee, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and members of the Steering Committee.

Implementing the directives and guidelines of Military Region 2 and the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, the Steering Committee has issued a preparatory work schedule for the 2026 exercise. The plan aims to specifically determine the content, time, location, presiding agency, and coordinating units. Simultaneously, it seeks to enhance the leadership, direction, operational capabilities, and advisory capacity of party committees, authorities, armed forces, and provincial departments in carrying out local military and defense tasks.

At the meeting, leaders of the provincial Military Command, which serves as the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee, reported on the progress of preparatory work; the task assignment plan for agencies, units, and localities; as well as the organizational plans, schedules, and intentions for training and exercising.

Concluding the meeting, provincial Party Secretary Trần Tiến Dũng requested agencies, units, and localities to urgently perfect the system of leadership and operational documents. They must develop an exercise intention that closely aligns with the actual local situation and promptly report it to the Steering Committee for consideration and appropriate adjustment. Departments, boards, and branches are required to proactively advise and coordinate closely to ensure the exercise takes place on schedule, achieves high quality, maintains military secrets, and guarantees absolute safety for personnel, vehicles, and equipment.

Provincial Party Secretary Trần Tiến Dũng emphasized that through the exercise, the aim is to further consolidate national defense and military potential, build a solid provincial defensive area, and fully meet the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
