Điện Biên attends photo exhibition to mark the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement

ĐBP – A delegation from Điện Biên Province attended the photo exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities and the restoration of peace in Việt Nam on Wednesday (June 12) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The delegation, led by Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, participated the event at the invitation of the permanent mission of Việt Nam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organisations in Geneva.

The exhibition was attended by Nguyễn Minh Hằng, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Việt Nam; Mai Phan Dũng, head of the permanent mission of Việt Nam; ambassadors and heads of nearly 200 national delegations in Geneva and a large number of overseas Vietnamese in Switzerland.

In his speech at the exhibition, Phương provided an overview of the socio-economic development and the security and defence situation in Điện Biên Province over the past 70 years since its liberation.

He also highlighted the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024), emphasising that the world-shaking victory of Điện Biên Phủ played a significant role in the Geneva Conference.

As part of the exhibition, the delegation from Điện Biên Province showcased the province’s potential and strengths to promote trade and investment through a video presentation about Điện Biên.

They displayed brochures and promotional materials at the photo exhibition themed ‘Điện Biên: A Cultural and Tourism Destination’, introducing the land and people of Điện Biên, highlighting its economic, cultural, social, defence and security activities as well as key tourist attractions.

The exhibition also featured local products such as tea, coffee and macadamia nuts, attracting significant interest from many international guests and overseas Vietnamese.

Also on this occasion, the delegation from Điện Biên Province held a working session with the permanent mission of Việt Nam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and other international organisations in Geneva.
