Ballots of trust

ĐBP - The upcoming election for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term is a monumental political event for both the nation and its people.

Each ballot cast represents a vessel of trust and high expectations from voters toward candidates who will serve as their true voice, ensuring that policy-making and oversight are both substantive and practical.

This election takes place as the country continues to streamline its organizational structure and transition toward a two-level local government model, a shift that demands a significant upgrade in the quality of elected representatives. With the nation focused on the development goals of the 14th Party Congress, candidates are expected to demonstrate not only policy-making prowess but also political bravery, innovative thinking, and the courage to take responsibility. Under the decentralized authority of the new government model, it is essential that representatives maintain a close connection with their constituents and possess the professional capacity to participate in meaningful social criticism and monitoring.

To ensure the success of this event, localities across Điện Biên have finalized their logistical preparations while intensifying educational outreach. Communication efforts have been highly adaptable, utilizing everything from traditional village meetings and mobile loudspeakers to modern social media platforms like Zalo. In remote border regions where terrain is challenging and populations are scattered, the Border Guard force has deployed “Border loudspeaker” mobile model to individual hamlets and clusters, ensuring that every citizen is well-informed about candidate profiles and the voting process.

A notable innovation in this cycle is the integration of digital transformation into voter outreach and campaign activities. By combining face-to-face meetings with online connections to various bridge points, the consultative process has allowed voters to easily access candidate platforms and personal commitments. This hybrid format has provided a broader stage for citizens to express their aspirations and suggestions to the Party and State through their prospective representatives.

The logistical framework for the province is now fully prepared. The National Election Council has designated three constituencies for the National Assembly in Điện Biên to elect seven deputies from a pool of 13 qualified candidates. Additionally, the province features 11 constituencies for the Provincial People’s Council with 83 candidates and 263 commune-level constituencies. Across the province, 926 Polling Areas have been established to serve a total of 429,146 voters. Comprehensive biographies of all candidates are publicly posted at these stations to facilitate informed decision-making.

From urban centers to the most remote ethnic and religious enclaves, officials are consistently engaging with the community to grasp the actual situation and sentiments of the people. For these citizens, the ballot is a profound expression of faith in representatives who will champion effective local development policies. Ultimately, this election is more than a selection of worthy leaders; it is an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the people and the State through an efficient and accountable administrative apparatus.
