VietJet Air continues to maintain flights to Điện Biên

ĐBP - On February 5, at a meeting with leaders of Điện Biên Province, representatives from Vietnamese budget airline VietJet Air reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and expanding flights between Điện Biên and Hồ Chí Minh City.

Attending the working session were Mr. Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of VietJet Air.

Following the upgrade of Điện Biên Airport, VietJet Air launched flights from Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City to Điện Biên with an optimized frequency. In 2024 alone, the airline served 55,454 passengers, with the Hồ Chí Minh City - Điện Biên route recording particularly strong demand, reaching 2,972 passengers in January 2025.

This flight route has significantly contributed to the success of major events, including the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory and the National Tourism Year - Điện Biên 2024. Maintaining this route plays a key role in boosting tourism growth, attracting strategic investments from the country’s leading corporations such as Vingroup and Sun Group.

Additionally, the leadership of Điện Biên has pledged to support VietJet Air in marketing, promotion, and aviation service development, ensuring a solid foundation for sustaining and expanding flights in the future. The province will also continue investing in tourism infrastructure and service quality improvements to drive sustainable development and create new opportunities for both businesses and the local community.

The continued operation of the Điện Biên - Hồ Chí Minh City flight route by VietJet Air is expected to be a key driver in helping Điện Biên achieve its goal of becoming a tourism hub in the Northwestern region in the coming years.
