Focusing on land clearance to accelerate progress of key projects

ĐBP - This morning (March 6), comrade Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, conducted a field inspection to assess the implementation progress of several key projects in Điện Biên Phủ city and Điện Biên district.

The Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee inspected the sites of Packages 3 and 4 under the Nậm Rốm River Basin Multi-Hazard Management Project, aimed at protecting livelihoods, adapting to climate change, and promoting socio-economic development in Điện Biên province, as well as Packages 4, 5, 6, and 7 under the Arterial Road Project.

Acknowledging the efforts of the project investors, the People’s Committees of Điện Biên Phủ city, and Điện Biên district in implementing these projects, particularly in land clearance, Chairman Lê Thành Đô urged local authorities to maintain a high level of focus on compensation and land clearance, ensuring clean land handover for the projects.

He also requested project investors to push contractors to mobilize maximum resources, equipment, machinery, and labor to ensure construction progresses according to the set schedule. For areas where local agricultural production is at risk of flooding due to project construction, investors were instructed to install temporary drainage systems to facilitate water discharge.

During the inspection of components under the Comprehensive Investment Project for the Construction of the provincial Sports Center, comrade Lê Thành Đô requested the People’s Committee of Điện Biên Phủ city to collaborate with the provincial Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Construction, and Culture, Sports, and Tourism, to expedite the compensation and land clearance plan. He also emphasized the need to communicate policies on compensation and resettlement to households within the land acquisition scope.

The Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee met with representatives of households in the project areas, listening to their opinions and informing them of the province’s policies regarding these projects. He noted that the provincial People’s Committee is actively providing close guidance to departments, sectors, and local authorities to carry out related tasks and accelerate project progress. He expressed hope that affected households would support and cooperate during the implementation process.
