ĐBP - The implementation of livelihood support programs under three national target programs (new rural development, sustainable poverty reduction, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas for the 2021-2025 period) has led to significant positive changes in the lives of local residents. Once challenging areas are now transforming daily, taking on a new look and opening up sustainable development opportunities for their communities.

ĐBP - Currently, some key projects in Điện Biên province are entering the final stage, making the deployment of construction and the disbursement of public investment capital increasingly urgent.

ĐBP - In recent years, Điện Biên province has synchronously implemented many solutions to strongly improve the business environment and enhance the provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI).

ĐBP - In recent times, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), along with Party committees and local governments, has made efforts to bring preferential loan capital to the people, especially poor households and vulnerable groups.

ĐBP - Currently, residents in the province are using rice seeds imported from other units and localities, as no enterprise or cooperative yet self-produces rice seeds characteristic of the Mường Thanh rice field. The lack of a stable indigenous seed source not only makes production dependent on external supply but also becomes a concern for the entire agricultural sector.

ĐBP - Industrial promotion capital supporting enterprises and cooperatives in the province serves as a driving force for these business units to boldly invest in applying advanced machinery and technology into their production processes. Through the industrial promotion program, Điện Biên province’s enterprises and rural industrial establishments have enhanced their production capacity, labor productivity, and product quality, increasing their competitiveness in the market, especially for small and micro-scale businesses.

ĐBP - The arrangement of commune-level administrative units within the province has created new space and momentum for local development; however, the National Target Program on New-Style Rural Area construction has also brought about difficulties and challenges, demanding determination and effort from all levels of government.

ĐBP - The former Tênh Phông commune had 5 villages, with residents primarily being the Mông ethnic group. After the merger, the area belongs to Quài Tở commune. Leveraging available potential and strengths, the people are gradually transforming the crop structure, forming raw material production zones oriented towards specialization and sustainability.

ĐBP - In an effort to enhance production value and create sustainable livelihoods for the people, Quài Tở commune is promoting agricultural restructuring towards commodity production, application of science and technology, and promotion of local advantages. Specialized cultivation zones are being formed, and effective economic models are spreading, opening a new direction for local agriculture.

ĐBP - Prolonged heatwaves, unusual severe cold spells, extreme floods, and unpredictable epidemics... are the reasons why traditional livestock farming models face high risks. In response to this situation, residents have been shifting to climate-adaptive farming methods, considering this a vital direction to ensure livelihoods and build a safe, sustainable agriculture.

ĐBP - In recent years, Quài Tở commune, Điện Biên province has undergone strong changes in its crop structure, shifting from inefficient corn and cassava to long-term industrial crops. One of the important factors contributing to this renewal is the change in people’s awareness of economic development.

ĐBP - Điện Biên province is aggressively implementing the campaign “Enriching and cleaning the national land database,” considering this a core task in the digital transformation process of the agriculture and environment sector.

ĐBP - Faced with increasingly strict traceability and quality standard requirements, establishing and managing planting area codes is becoming a key factor for Điện Biên province’s agricultural products to increase their value and expand their markets. This is also a shift in production mindset, moving towards a green, sustainable agriculture, from “producing what we have” to “producing what the market needs.”

ĐBP - In recent years, Điện Biên farmers have actively applied mechanization from land preparation and sowing to harvesting, preservation, and processing, helping to reduce labor and improve production efficiency. Mechanization has changed traditional farming practices and opened up a path for sustainable, commodity-based agricultural development, in line with the province’s agricultural restructuring requirements.

ĐBP - After a series of administrative mergers, the area and population of many communes and wards in Điện Biên province have significantly expanded, creating new space and momentum for local growth. Urbanization tied to commerce and services has emerged as a promising direction, especially in central areas with advantages in location and infrastructure. Across many communes, service trade is taking off following the “boost” of the merger process.

ĐBP - According to an assessment by the Vietnam Energy Institute, Điện Biên province has the potential to develop wind power with a total capacity of 2,500 - 3,000MW. To date, the total capacity proposed by investors is about 1,400MW.

ĐBP - At an altitude of over 1,400m, the ancient Tủa Chùa Shan tuyết tea trees quietly stretch in the wind. From the young buds covered in white fluff on the gnarled branches attached to the ancient trunks, the Hmong people of the Tủa Chùa highlands create a rich, pure tea aroma. Now, this specialty, preserved for generations, has been given the geographical indication “Tủa Chùa,” affirming the unique position of a characteristic tea brand of the Northwestern region.

ĐBP - Điện Biên province has diverse natural conditions with many microclimates, creating a rich source of plant genetics. Varieties like Mường Phăng nếp tan rice, Na Son red peanuts, and Tìa Dình winter melon have become specialties.

ĐBP - In recent years, agricultural production in Điện Biên province has been continuously affected by natural disasters and animal diseases, causing heavy losses. While most agricultural activities are carried out by households and small cooperatives with limited capacity to cope and recover, existing support policies have not met practical needs, with low support levels and narrow coverage.

ĐBP - After the administrative unit rearrangement, the non-organization of the district level has set new requirements for the commune level in leadership and management. The commune party committee has become the leadership nucleus for all socio-economic development activities at the grassroots. In building new-style rural areas, the role of the party committee is especially important because this task is linked to developing infrastructure, improving the quality of life, and creating a new face for rural areas.
